Re: HSC 2014 4U Marathon You got the upper bound correct, but the lower bound is not 0

    HSC 2014 MX2 Marathon (archive)

Re: HSC 2014 4U Marathon You got the second part of the question right, but the first part is wrong. Clearly, r>0, but the sides must also obey a condition.

Re: MX2 Integration Marathon The same question got posted on the 4u marathon I think. Answer should be (πln(a))/2

    A small MX2 question

Functions like the log function have conditions on the domain (i.e. x>0). That's why we absolute the inside, instead of the outside.

    A small MX2 question

Try ln|x-2|-4ln|x+3| + 3 (Absolute value brackets). We use them in integration because the log function cannot be less than or equal to 0.

damn, beat me to posting :(, as for the integration question: (I haven't thought of a more cleaner way besides t-formula)

    A nice 4U Q16

Note: We can re-write the integral in this manner n+(n-1)x+(n-2)x^2+...+(n-(n-2))x^(n-2)+(n-(n-1))x^(n-1). Expanding, you obtain n(1+x+x^2+...+x^(n-1))-x(1+2x+3x^2+...+(n-1)x^(n-2))

    A nice 4U Q16

You know that 1+x+x^2+...+x^n = (1-x^n)/(1-x) {Sum of GP}. Differentiate both sides and you obtain that expression.

I believe she will break the 70's, though a lot of it boils down to time management

I guess the strategy for the extension 2 exam, is to scrape as many marks as possible. Nobody will finish, so it's a matter of who can secure the most marks in the 3 hours lol.
