is getting a band 6 for a subject only from the external mark?

You are categorically incorrect on several points. I'll explain: Refer "The Moderation of Higher School Certificate Assessments using a Quadratic Polynomial Transformation: a Technical Paper" by Dr Robert MacCann, who designed the HSC moderation process that has been used since 1992...

Updated Raw Marks Database (sortable excel file)

Hope to see some new raw marks for HSC 2018. Some updates for marks since the last time I posted in this thread. Information for 2018 HSC results services can be read here: http://educationstandards.nsw.edu.au/wps/portal/nesa/11-12/hsc/results-certificates/results-services-students

is getting a band 6 for a subject only from the external mark?

That's not true. Your moderated assessment is a function of the following variables: highest raw assessment mark, lowest raw assessment mark, average of the raw assessment marks, standard deviation of the raw assessment marks, highest HSC exam mark, lowest HSC exam mark and the average of the...

is getting a band 6 for a subject only from the external mark?

They do count. They are a factor in how your school mark will be moderated. 'How 'well' your school mark will be moderated will depend on the cohort's efforts in the exam.

How do rankings of schools affect your HSC mark?

2nd and 3rd will end up with similar assessment marks.

Why do tradesmen think they are engineers ?

Because an 'engineer' is a loosely regulated job title. Based on the AQF, the majority of industries as well as Engineer's Australia and Professionals Australia would not recognise that course as a sufficient qualification to be an engineer.

    UNSW chit chat thread

Re: UNSW chit chat thread 2017 Read the Special Consideration policy: https://student.unsw.edu.au/special-consideration A note would not be sufficient.

    Weak cohort LOL

"High rank" is only relative to a lower rank, but it doesn't actually show how close or far your marks are from 1st. The closer your school mark is to first, the higher your moderated mark will be. You could be 3rd, but if you're 20% away from first, and 20th rank is 25% away from first, you're...

Does UNSW have tutorials in week 1?

Some courses can have tutorials in the first week. You need to read your course outline / read announcements from your course convener.

    Stationery Advice

Just get an ordinary A4 exercise book, even the ones without binder holes. You will get to a point where anything extra is just gimmicky, useless or not worth the time trying to decide one or the other. They also tend to be more compact. Keep everything simple.

Can I lose an offer that I am not enrolled in?

Quickly? As long as you enrol into your courses prior to the end of enrolment deadline, it doesn't matter if you enrol now or the day before. You may not get the course you want/need to do if you're too slow though.

    Should I drop History Extension?

If your school mark is close to 1st, then your moderated assessment mark will reflect that. You will still need to do well in the HSC exam yourself as that will account for half your final mark.

    Should I drop History Extension?

We're not concerned about students who can smash the final exam. We are concerned about students who are worrying about the History Project and thinking they need to spend extra time on the subject and specifically on the History Project. There may be issues and pressures with long projects...

    Should I drop History Extension?

A word of advice. The History Extension History Project is not a major work, unlike in English Extension 2. It is simply a heavily weighted assessment task. The use of 'major' is distracting and misleading. Ultimately it's your examination skills which will dictate your performance in the...

    sci/engo into engo transfer

Is it possible? Of course. Do just courses related to the engineering degree, then transfer at the end of this year. You might even be able to transfer mid year if the system lets you or you could ask your School's office - it's happened in the past. You will still need to gain the marks...

Moderation is performed on...
