What are you planning on doing at uni?
I'd recommend sticking with what you're better at, personally, unless you know or think that chemistry is essential for your uni course as well

I recently got my MX1 prelim back, and got about 44% - i'm hopeless at Maths lmao, and don't really enjoy it.

The best way to maximise your marks is to try and do as well as possible in the HSC. I don't know if 80 is out of your reach or not, but worrying about it isn't going to help.
The way I see it, you're in the HSC, and there's no turning back, so why not make the most of it?
