I honestly doubt many people get ~260+
from memory most [well, of those that knew + i talked to] are 240-250 with maybe a few 260s. I don't know of anyone with 270+, though there may be a few here and there.

a very large amount of people get very high UAI/ATAR without accelerating. personally i would have liked to accelerate maybe 2 units of chem or phys or something, but in the end i didn't
accelerating is good, yes, but there's no massive need and you can do just as well without it

lol. all your alternatives require high marks elsewhere [e.g. high interview/umat] or more effort [e.g. gamsat]. there are perks of a 99.95 atar =]
scaling is quite fair, because it removes the inflations added on by moderation, and makes each subject comparable. it's not as if the dudes at the scaling centre go 'lololol omg let's scale up 4u by 25% and cos like, va is a crap subject, let's scale it down'
it's based upon how good the cohort...
welll to be fair my estimate wasn't 100 :P
and i got every other scholarship/position i applied for [even the ones with interviews ^.^]
