i think people in my class did last year and my genius of a teacher picked it up haha. i would not recommend it at all for your IRP. stick to the results you get even if its not what you hoped to obtain.
i found biotech insanely boring when i did it. it does have some overlaps with the blueprint topic though. for example, the process of protein synthesis.
but in saying that i think the genetics topic would also obviously have overlaps. i would have much preferred to do that topic. if i was...
i know some people who memorised essays for our HSC last year and they got slaughtered by the questions :) so my advice, no. its such a waste of memory/time anyway.

I was in this position last year. UWS is my closer uni. It takes me literally like 2mins to walk to. Instead I chose to go to USYD for obvious reasons. I would rather travel 3hrs everyday to get to and from uni than to graduate from a university with a bad reputation but thats just me :)
