well here is the question to which we find in nesa's marking guidelines the answer [-1,1] which is the correct answer to the wrong question. so if we assume the answer is correct then the question is wrong

although nesa don't publish working for mc for hsc papers, there are several published ones that do. many of the sample paper mc questions have come from past hsc papers, so the task can be significantly reduced. i found most of the sources, most copy-pasted from past hsc, some changed...

just like the hsc mgs, they did not show the working for the mc. there are also several or otherwise questions, and no indication whatsoever in the nesa solutions what are the or otherwise methods. so i think we need to redo some questions, showing working for the mc and the or otherwise...

seems to be a mistake in the extension 2 Q14cii solutions from wolframalpha: so the question should have had a ± inside the square root but nesa's solution correct just the question wrong
