I think he was reffering to the General paper. Some very valid points he has made.
I quickly done up a table for the Mathematics 2U course as well, similar to the one made on page 1 of this thread by shadowdude.
Here it is:
General Maths
99 --> 90.6 scaled
94 --> 81.4...
Hmm, If I want a good mark for general maths, my assessment marks and ranks have to be as high up as possible close to 100, then I'll have to get a high ass score in the HSC exam to 'negate' this scaling.
Going by the table, what mark would give 89 scaled?
Would this include the internal assessment marks as well? So your total marks for the whole course or just the HSC examination?
Ahh yes, so I would need to come in the top 4 percentile for English Standard. I understand
Is this out of 50? Does this one take the whole course and internal...
I have an ATAR aim of roughly 92.
Can someone please explain what each heading at the top means. Mainly the 3 listed below.
Here are my guesses
HSC Mark: The raw mark acheived in the HSC examination?
Percentile: The top percentage a student is in?
Scaled Mark: Scaled mark from the raw mark...
Oh okay.
Using the above table, let's say:
I get 99 in the exam and my school mark is 91. Doesn't it go to 94?
I'm probably way off :P I'll go check the ATAR counsel forums
Haha yeah, don't get me wrong. I wasn't having a shot at you. I'm actually pretty thankful into what you posted up. It helped me out quite a bit and gave a bit of insight into the scaling.
I didn't get it at first, but after looking at it a few times I got what you mean. The difference in ATAR...
Yup, as long as you get a good mark, you should be ok. There are a few people here that got ATARs of 90+ and they did General.
It's the same for every subject, put in the effort and you'll get rewarded.
Pathetic? Yeah okay mate.
"oh hey look at this guy, he is dropping to general. don't worry I do extension 2 maths so I'll just look down my nose at him"
Define what a "pathetic" or "dodgey" subject is. The way I see it, if the subject was shithouse, the BOS wouldn't have them available, and...
Thanks for the details and stats.
I'm just failing to take that all in because that's nothing like my situation.
If I went through the course without studying AT ALL (only completing homework and classwork), I'd pull roughly 70 for each subject (excluding General Maths - this would be higher...
Re: Survey about HSC..Plz help and fill it out. For my IRP- it will take like 5 minut
1.Gender: Male
Age: 17
2.Are you currently studying for the HSC (Year 11 or 12)? Yes (2010-Year 12)
3.What are/were/would be your aims in the HSC? Achieve an ATAR or around 90.
4.Do you...
Haha congratulations! :D. Awesome mark.
Well my plan is to drop from 2U to general. I'm also planning on going through the entire Year11 General Maths textbook, catch up on Term 1(term 4 basically) General Maths work and keep the pace with the current work. I'm hoping it won't be too hard. From...
Hmmm. I'd rather do General Maths than no maths. Gen. Maths would help me with everyday life :P I'd still prefer to have the extra backup units in case something goes wrong in the exam :P
Some fair points here. Thanks for your help so far guys
