    B Business @ UTS vs B Commerce @ Macquarie

Macquarie for GPA inflation!! (distinctions and HDs at mac count the same to gpa, so it looks better academically)

    Prestige or the course?

Fees, aside from national priorities, are tied directly to the potential earning power of the degree. People with commerce, law and medicine degrees are likely to earn the most, so fees are the highest, while people doing arts are more likely to earn comparatively less, thats why art courses are...

    Locus problems - need help!

rearrange into (x-h)^2=4A(y-k) form, where (h,k) is the vertex of the parabola. Note that A doesnt necessarily refer to the "a" in the original parabola. So put all the x on one side: x^2=2ay-2a^2 x^2=2a(y-a) x^2=4(a/2)(y-a) so the focal length A=a/2 while the vertex is (0,a) so the focus is (0...

    Locus problems - need help!

    (i) working out seems fine, you just need to describe what sort of curve the locus represents (eg. parabola, straight line, circle etc) and the main features of that type of curve (eg. for parabola: the focus and focal length, circle: radius and centre), as well as any other really significant...

Parametric equations of Parabola - Need help with question

Let me clarify, what i meant by the quadratic equation is the x=-b/2a+-sqrt(blah blah blah), which unneccessarily complicates the question. Factorisation (if you can see it) is often a nice way as well as you pointed out above, but for those who dont see the factorisation immediately, using the...

ANOTHER Parametric Equations of Parabola question -- need help

I'll give you a couple of hints and I'll let you try it by yourself. - If 2 lines are perpendicular, their gradients multiply to -1. Let Q be (x0,y0), derive an equation with (x0,y0) using the fact QS is perpendicular to PS. - Note that Q(x0,y0) also satisfies the equation of the normal to the...

    Unsw exams

closed book exams are easier than open book ones anyway. uni exams dont specifically test memory unlike certain high school tests, rather they test understanding of the material and concepts and their applications in a semi-practical setting.

    Prestige or the course?

Just curious is there any real difference between advanced mathematics and normal science degree? Based on the UNSW maths website: http://www.maths.unsw.edu.au/students/current/ugscienceprograms.html http://www.maths.unsw.edu.au/students/current/ugadvancedprograms.html In terms of...

Parametric equations of Parabola - Need help with question

Equation of normal: x+py=ap^3+2ap Sub y=x^2/4a into above: x+px^2/4a=ap^3+2ap 4ax+px^2=4a(ap(p^2+2)) px^2+4ax-4a^2p(p^2+2)=0 This yields a quadratic equation in x but DO NOT USE THE QUADRATIC EQUATION This is because we already know x=2ap is a solution to the quadratic as the equation...

what are good universities for a commerce degree??

Depends on your major: Accounting -> then just go to any uni you like where you will be eligible for CA program on graduation. Thats all it matters in the end. Finance -> UNSW Actuarial Studies -> Mac for prestige, UNSW for flexibility (in case you find that actuarial is not for you)...

    Integrate exponential fn question

2^(logx)= (e^log2)^logx=(e^logx)^log2=x^log2 by use of indices rule in the third step then integrate is easy--> x^(log2+1)/(log2+1) + C EDITTED: forgot the +1 in denominator

Is it possible to get into a unsw course even if my atar is a couple of points off?

Re: Is it possible to get into a unsw course even if my atar is a couple of points of -1 http://www.uac.edu.au/undergraduate/courses/unsw/424000.html Combined commerce degrees with science, arts and economics have the same UAC code as commerce. This means if you are accepted for commerce, you...

    HSC questions easier for girls

Suppose HSC English is not made compulsory (no reason why it should be), I wonder how much these results will change. Also judging by the top achievers in course list, in stereotypically "male" subjects like maths extension 2, chemistry and physics, the majority of the top achievers are male.
