    Atar estimate?

Very dependant on final externals. Because you think you can achieve rank 1 in most of your subjects, you could potentially get 99+. If you get #1 in English, 99.95 is obtainable, although very difficult. Aim for top ranks right throughout the year and work on getting English to >90/100, 3u...

Should I be doing 4U maths?

Keep it. Even if you just pass it, the aligning is crazy.

Can someone give an impression of my Creative piece?

I'm gunna say 7-9. Babies are too unsophisticated to experience belonging/not-belonging (at least when they're merely a few days old). The reason it was so confusing for everyone was because babies can't speak - so if you write it from the head of a baby and don't make it obvious, people...

    Estimate your marks here

    Probs ~35/45, and ~40/60ish.

So since it's all over, thoughts on raw marks for band 6?

    I reckon it'll be lower. I'm predicting 75/100.

    Module B Hate Thread

I agree. It's not the selection of one speech that pisses me off, it's the way they asked the question, how they asked for a personal judgment on how the end of one speech related to six other completely unrelated speeches, I bullshitted some stuff about universal ideas and related ideas of...

It was fucked. To actually answer the question properly required SO much bullshitting, especially for Speeches and the poems...

General Thoughts: English Advanced Paper 2

Module B was different. For all you people doing a film or whatever, shut up. Speeches was a joke, "how does the end of Suu Kyi's speech affect your judgment of her speech and all the others?" Essentially asking how the end of her speech is related to six other unrelated ones. Cheers, board...

    uh oh

I disagree. Language techniques are good, they will pay them. Admittedly, it was a film so you will lose a few marks for not taking into account its textual form at all, but you won't go from a 14/15 down to a 7/15 or anything major like that.

    How To Prepare?

    1. Make flashcards with a few quotes/techniques/effects on each - make them VERY succint and short. 2. Memorise these flashcards, get family to test you or test yourself. 3. It WILL suck at first because you can't get them off the top of your head, persist and when you realise you can recall...

    Raw Marks

I know, the guy asked a question, I gave him a guess. Unless tomorrow's paper is a whore (which it well and truly could be) then I suspect the cutoff would be slightly higher than last year.

Memorising three essays in one night!

Starting now, here's a few tips. - Make flashcards with barebones points - Memorise those points, get people to test you - In the exam, answer question, bullshit points and relate effects/links to question - If you have a few good effect statements but the rest are just like "and thus the...

    Raw Marks

    My guess: B6 - 82/100 (roughly ~85/105) B5 - 66/100 (roughly ~69/105)

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Re: How Great Was That? Learnt Feliks Skrzynecki, Migrant Hostel and St. Patrick's College and almost cried with joy when I realised the question was on place. I tried to manipulate my creative for place, added a bigger focus to places but I don't think I did it well enough, probs max 12/15...

Ahhh, my bad. Thanks for clearing that up.

    English confession?

No, I think 'essay' is specific. If they didn't want to be so specific, they should've said "Extended Response". My point is, if they said 'Feature Article', then we'd know it's a feature article. They said 'essay', so we know it's an essay. If they said 'Extended Response', we have no idea...

    Marks - Confusing?

That's correct, but in simpler terms: Your assessments throughout the year up to your trials give you your rankings for your subjects. After the trials, these rankings are sent into the Board of Studies. When you sit your HSC exam, your mark you get in this exam is scaled (according to how...
