    HSC General Maths Marathon

I haven't even thought about predicting tbh. I think there will be a mix of everything. What's the trickier stuff they normally pull off? Is there anything tricky they can even pull off? Lolol. Maybe some of those multi-stage probability questions. What is the chance of at least one, what is...

    HSC General Maths Marathon

Let's do this shit brah. Any others tips you guys know of? I'd recommend going over some simple unit conversion so you don't freak out in the test when they throw it in.

    HSC General Maths Marathon

How you guys ranked? What are you guys aiming for? I'm 2/130 and aiming for a 90. I normally surpass that with my raw mark but I'll be happy with simply a B6. Might try to get as close to 100 as I can lulz.

Only thing I ever feel I need to remember for interpreting data is the way skewness correlates to positive or negative scores. A left tail = negative. The rest (modes, symmetry, IQR and outliers) are pretty much self explanatory imho.

    HSC General Maths Marathon

Yeah. I feel like it's the only exam where a highlighter helps me out. Can't think of anything to add. I feel like that's one of the most important things in this subject - reading the questions. I dropped down into general in year 12 so I probably should. The way I see it, the only...

    HSC General Maths Marathon

Yeah thanks for that man. Still, a lot of the questions are pretty difficult to figure out what they actually want. Dropped from MX1 to general maths crew, brb no effort required to get high marks so you can focus on other subjects moar only issue is dat scaling and alignment lawl

    HSC General Maths Marathon

Still can't get over the ambiguity of the present and future value annuity questions. It's a comprehension test (a hard one at that) and it's annoying af lulz. Anyone know a decent way to differentiate between them when they're somewhat ambiguous?

    Chem/Physics/Bio longer response questions

I can see the Galvanic cells dotpoint coming up, name two types of galvanic cell and their relevant chemistry or whatever. Maybe AAS. Don't think it'll be nitrous oxides. Fermentation of glucose for ethanol and catalytic cracking of large hydrocarbons for ethene always shows up. Maybe...

    Business Studies Financial ratios

Generally, but you'll probably want to learn them anyway because they're a part of the finance syllabus and could potentially come up else-where. They're really easy anyway. Remember the acronym GELPS (Growth, efficiency, liquidity, profitability and solvency) and the equations that fall into...

    Outliers, how do they work?

Hope not. Top 15 of my chemistry class is extremely tight mark-wise, then the bottom 5 just don't give a rats ass and average like 40%. Way to drag us down if this is true.

How do your externals affect your marks?

It just serves as a gradient against your classmates for how your external mark is aligned. That's my understanding anyway lmao.

    Short answers extra writing booklets

They'll "mark" everything you write. Unless what you write contradicts other things you've written, they'll only add marks according to the content you've covered in accordance to their marking guidelines. Unless it's English.

    Raw marks/scaling/ subs

My god. Why don't more people do chemistry? 71 is definitely attainable with a bit of extensive rote learning.

Doing 12 units, not studying for worst 2 units?

Make sure you don't screw up in any of the other 10 units.

    Raw marks/scaling/ subs

Anyone know the cut offs for chemistry? I average about 80% when I do past papers, hoping for a B6.

    Raw marks/scaling/ subs

Surely that doesn't mean that the FINAL HSC mark you get for say, 84/100 in Economics, gets pushed up to 90? Keep getting confused by this stuff lmao.

    Ranking first internally...

You'll get the highest moderated mark.

Raw mark cut off for English advanced band 6

You have to remember that certain types of people post and comment on forums so our perspective of the difficulty of the test is probably slightly skewed. A lot of my friends (albeit not complete geniuses, but nor I am I) and people I've spoken to found the second paper to be pretty challenging...
