    Accomodation!

I think most colleges have Foxtel in the common areas. Neither college is necessarily better than the other, both will provide you with as good a college experience as you want it to be. Instant friends, social events and amazing times that you will never forget. The main difference between the...

Questions from a 2012 ANU hopeful...

Finding a job isn't too hard, especially if you have a bit of retail or hospitality experience. Getting youth allowance from Centrelink isn't as easy as just living out of home for 18 months though, I believe the criteria at the moment are that you have to work an average of 30 hours a week...

    ANU accommodation 2012

not 100% sure but with the way that accommodation disappears here, I'd get it done asap. It shouldn't take you too long, just an hour or two so if you've got some time this weekend or something, get it done. Good luck.

    Just Arts?

The art history faculty is pretty good, the staff have a lot of great credentials including curating at the NGA and Sasha Grishin has authored a tremendous amount of literature. It's not as wishy washy and talking about how 'delicious the brushstrokes are' as I expected, which I'm grateful for...

3 years degree is shortened to 2 years degree

You might be able to shorten it by a semester though. They have a pretty good system of inter-institutional kind of stuff and you might be able to do something through Open Uni or another distance uni that would count. Go and see the advisory for your college and check it out.

    Just Arts?

All good, a lot of arts kids do it too, it's a stereotype about lazy degrees that really bugs me. Having said that even though I'm doing a triple major in art history and curatorship, spanish and history, I only have to go to class 2 days a week and pretty much never have exams.

    ANU Accommodation

I think some people find it's not the haven of calm, polite and studious students that the shiny veneer of UL gives the impression of. It's also ridiculously expensive for what you get.

    Mid Semester Breaks?

You don't have to would be the key point, I think.
  9. Y

    Just Arts?

I know I'm going to cop it here from all the triple degree Law/Actuarial/million point ATAR kids but don't say 'just arts'. A lot of the time the people doing a straight arts degree are the ones that realised Arts/Law or Arts/Commerce or whatever wasn't what they want to do and had the guts to...

Should I change my application to B&G?

But having said that, the likelihood of you getting your first choice isn't overly high. Fenner is a nice option for self catered too, and cheaper than UniLodge.

    B&G Hall, Bruce Hall, Ursula

The number they intake depends on the number they have leaving. I know for B&G it is generally about 40. None of them are selective so it'll pretty much be a lucky dip for you on which one you get, it's a pretty even chance on you getting any of those or any of the alternatives (Fenner...

    Anu Police?

It wouldn't count. A Bachelor in Asia-Pacific Security would help in getting into a government security agency but if you just want to join the NSW Police Force as an officer you just apply, you don't necessarily need a degree.

    NO accommodation

ANU has technically provided the first years with accommodation so they're off the hook. And they'll upgrade them to a real college when they can. It's jsut a matter of whether you stick it out that long.
  14. Y

    NO accommodation

It's definitely 370 without accommodation. And I know B&G usually take no more than 40, Johns takes a few more than that, maybe about 60. Fenner has 155 new residents, they only had about 110 last year.
  15. Y

    NO accommodation

Doubt it, thats way too far away

What's wrong with being an 18 year old virgin?

I have friends that are 20 and are still virgins. No big deal.
  17. Y

    NO accommodation

I've heard of this too but a lot of them (obviously not all) were transferring from one college to another so there is still a place free at a college for a first year. It does seem like some of us are getting up on our high horses about a situation that no one, students nor UAS, can change though.
  18. Y

    NO accommodation

sorry, but were you expecting them to kick out all the second and third year students for you?
  19. Y

    NO accommodation

I was at Fenner last year, moved out this year. Needed more space than college provides.
