Nearly there. Nearly. Looks like we're both on the procrastination boat, eh. I'm just editing the RS again and I'll be sweet. I feel good though, I'm the only person in my Ext 2 class who started the RS before the night before its due :)

Agreed. I would say use the short story as a basis. You're going to want to have a concept, which requires research (and alot of it!), and you'll probably see your short story in a different light when you've actually started the course. I don't see any harm in using it as a starting point. If...

I'm wholly free verse, so I have no real discussion on rhyme/metre. Although I do have some on experimentation of form and all that icky postmodern stuff. I haven't obviously alluded to any poets, its more subtle, so i'm not sure that it's worth trying to explain something in my RS which is...

Maybe its just especially poetry then. Like, I have a whole bunch of poets that I suspect have helped shape my 'style', but my 'style' was already formed before I started the course. Plus, I don't want to be going through the poetry with a fine-tooth comb and saying that this particular line or...

I've also been wondering about that. Because, if I wanted, I could thicken the RS out with constant references, but I almost don't want to. It makes me sound completely unoriginal...like every single thing I've done is a product of the direct influence of someone else...which it isnt.

+1 A teacher at my school has marked Ext 2 for a few years, and she said its really REALLY obvious when people go over the word count for an RS. Think about it, they're going through major works for hours on end, if yours is more than a page over, they'll start to get suspicious.
