If you will be eligible to vote, who do you intend to vote for?

I'm loathe to take the bait buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut; when it comes to Tony Abbott never changing his position, first he was in favour of an ETS under the Howard government, then he said he supported a carbon tax (and a consumption based tax at that, not an ETS like the Gillard government has)...

Not having a sook, I just don't see any point discussing this with you. It would bring me no joy.

    2012-2013 Budget

In defence of the Oz, probably the journo with the best combo of political nous and economic prowess is George Mega.

Your views on faith are quite well documented, I'm not deluded enough to think there is any prospect of a constructive dialogue here.

Did I use the word tolerance when referring to the beatitudes?

    French/Greek elections

I thought you were talking about my claim that the beatitudes align with left of centre politics.

Well no, you're assuming some sort of "Jesus said these things, therefore they are good" whereas I come from the perspective that they are intrinsically virtuous principles and that's why Jesus promoted them.

The Stuart-Mill Harm principle is I think what you're getting that there and yes that should provide the governing basis for our immigration law.

I think if you have a look at the beatitudes, you cannot contend that they are a cogent endorsement of the ideas of compassion, peace, selflessness which forms the bedrock of modern left of centre politics.

My anecdotal experience, living in a suburb with one of the highest Muslim populations in the nation(and an almost entirely arabic Muslim one at that) is that having grown in a diverse multicultural society they have adopted an infinitely more progressive and tolerant outlook in life then the...

    Pigs arse it is.

    French/Greek elections

Progressive is a pretty relative term and compared to the "westerners" around my grand parents house in Penrith, or around my sisters place in Rockhampton, they seem pretty bloody progressive.

    French/Greek elections

That's possibly because Islamic countries don't have a legacy of sending in intelligence agencies to topple the most liberal and progressive leaders in the region in order to push down the cost of trade imports like Christan/Secular world did with Sukarno, like they did with Mossadegh like they...

    2012-2013 Budget

Re: 2012-2013 Budget Predictions I don't think I've ever called the US a free market, I've said it was too far inclined towards being a free market. These are very different things.

You realize Sydney is already more multicultural than Paris? The rhetoric you hear about Europe being over run with muslims and migrants is just plain wrong. If you dislike multiculture, Sydney is the fucking coalface with the arguable exception of Israel.

Those poor people, forced to live on just 325 000 euro a year, however will they survive.

    Transexulality

    No no, I meant na.
  18. Lentern

    Transexulality

I don't believe in gender specific pronouns because gender is just a social construct.
  19. Lentern

    Transexulality

Because it is largely uninterested in a constructive discussion but hoping to incur the ire of liberal thinking folk like you and I.
