    About commerce....

Maybe because quite a large proportion of those in usyd law are from North shore etc and also happen to have great grades? I think a large part of the rich white kids could be mere coincidence. Most of the people topping law at usyd are white and they would make up a bulk of the serious...

    About commerce....

Not at all. You are supposed to build connections and if you dont, thats your loss. That's just the nature of things. Even with university. Even if you are the hardest working student, you probably won't perform as well as someone who is connected and gets heaps of resources from older mates...

    About commerce....

That is probably the greatest combo for banking if you get 80 plus wam in both. Mate, I'm only a 2nd year so can't comment on the whole neyworking your way up except from what I've heard from people i know working there. But essentially one of them was just really tight with the transactions...

    About commerce....

Same ish. While you're at uni, I wouldn't recommend making networking a huge priority. Unless you have family members in the firm, it is highly unlikely that they will hire a grad just based on impression if your cv/marks etc aren't up there. Once you're in a firm, networking makes all the...

    Management Consulting

I think it is generally attractive because 1) prestigious, 2) most your colleagues will be brilliant 3) you will actually be engaged in challenging work 4) good pay 5) exit opportunities. There are plenty of small firms doing the same but you're clients would be very small or some small...

    Management Consulting

Pwc and ey both have equivalents but they make it clear that they only target smaller corporations etc (leaving the large ones for mbb and 'tier-2's). Either way, consulting at big 4 firms isn't easy to get into. You need some solid grades/ECS etc. For MBB, it requires a lot more to get in...

WAM needed to get into commerce/science at USYD. Transfer from UNSW combined law

Yep, you should be able to get in just through your ATAR. But if they also take into account your wam, it might be a bit more difficult. Yes you should get credits for all of your unsw units.

Future prospects for Australian Law students and graduates?

I don't know which particular field you're talking about - but please spend some time looking at MBB or other MCs in Aus (e.g. NOUS group) and IBs etc and have a looked at their grads. A large proportion are comm law kids. It's also the comm/law kids that they make an exception for and offer...

    Lower UMAT cutoffs?

Low mid 80s is 'relatively' low. If you look at past threads. 80 may be enough to get in. So ranking in top 20 tile compared to getting 98 tile and still getting bonded offer from unsw. For bond I know people with 70s umat who got in. Worst case scenario: I've heard of this private school...

    Lower UMAT cutoffs?

Doesn't uws already have a relatively low cut off for people applying from med sci or Adv Science at uws? Also assuming you live in a west, that's a further advantage right? (Not sure if this only applies to atar though) Also if you have cash and really want to do med just do it at bond...

UWS ranked world top 100 for unis <50 yrs old

Justified though. The stigma with UWS will probably disappear if 10-15 years.

    What is my best option?

Don't transfer into comm/law - too late. Generally, arts/law guns = big 6 law. They don't care about your arts marks at all, as long as law is godly (75+ wam for just law units at usyd). So when you apply to IBs, it will be very similar - they will look at your law marks, and if it isn't good...

USYD combined law atar is lowered...

I think they would! However I assume it will be harder for transfers to get in now. But you should get in just by your atar!

    Help please

Friend of mine doing comm/med at usyd. Can confirm. State ranked eco though and loves accounting. Normally, people do science

    bcom @ usyd

I think the above link only refers to 'B comm' - which would be around half the cohort. It probably doesn't take into account those in double degrees. I'm fairly sure it's around 1000 people all up per year enrolled in B.Comm/or some combined degree. Also, the above is just NSW/domestic students...

    Which BCom double major?

Pretty similar mate, but I think Finance is seen as a bit more flexible in Australia.

The Fundamental Reason for my Choice of Medicine.

Doctors earn quite well - especially if you're a high rolling surgeon. Putting such a hefty price on health care, something people need - not even a want - wouldn't that make doctors a "leech" of society? There are plenty of doctors making close to a million/year. You're response comes out as...

    Which BCom double major?

Finance/Marketing is a great option given your interest - Finance/Economics might be a bit too narrow for you. International business, as the person above mentioned, is a fluff major - not recommended. Friend of mine in the year above did Finanace/Marketing @ unsw, interned at loreal etc now...

    Why is Law so popular?

This is true. Law is prestigious in western countries because you actually have some trust in law and the authorities. In India, the police can do what they want, no lawyer/law has the power to save u m8. So culturally and historically law isn't as integral to their life. Also they think...

    Why is Law so popular?

Lol if you think your hsc humanities bs will help you with law think again. Most of the people doing well are law/science or people very solid in maths/intelligent. Rote learning gives you 0 output for law.
