    Rural Bonus Points Scheme

According to this page: http://mq.edu.au/future_students/undergraduate/bonus_points/rural_bonus_scheme/ The scheme can be applied to all degrees which you applied for through UAC. I can't believe Dural students are getting points for this though, I am further than that from the university and...

Where can I get access to unit guides that show assessment and unit planners?

This. If you are curious about what sort of assessments there are in a particular unit, you may be able to find an old version online just by doing a search (but note that asessment structures can change from semester to semester). If you are on campus, some lecturers will keep version of the...

Are any bonus points at all allowed to be applied to combined law degrees?

No. See this page (question three - lists all the programs not eligible for the Academic Advantage scheme): www.mq.edu.au/future_students/undergraduate/bonus_points/academic_advantage/

Political Science students: Which Uni is better: Syd or Maquarie

No worries, just jump into any thread, that's what a forum is for. Deciding majors - well, let's put it this way, the requirement for a major is 24 credit points (about 2 semesters' worth of units)... so as long as you complete this requirement then you can put that major on your degree. Some...

what is a good combination among these commerce majors?

Re: Should I do commerce (proffessional accounting) at Macquarie or ANU (commerce). Macquarie does have a really good commerce (accounting) program. But, if you are considering ANU, does that mean you are down at Canberra? And are you planning on doing your CA/CPA afterwards?

what is a good combination among these commerce majors?

Re: Thoughts on a commerce degree majoring in marketing and account? I think it's a good match in the sense that one side will teach you communication/interpersonal skills and the other will teach you numbers and well, numbers....

    Actuarial Studies

    Fair enough :)

    Career Options

Also have a look at the information from the major companies/big 4/banks etc on their graduate programs. Looking at what the different streams/service lines do will give you a better idea of what sort of jobs you will be interested in.

    Actuarial Studies

At Mq; you can combine it with applied finance, economics or science. What are you interested in or what sort of industry/job do you want after uni? Applied Finance and Economics would obviously have more in "common" with actuarial studies and wouldn't be difficult if you are good with numbers...

    Actuarial Studies

I'm sorry, I can't tell whether you are saying this with sarcasm or not?

Can one do 100 level units during 2nd year?

^ 100 levels are fantastic when you are in 2nd year or later, it gives you a decent grade with minimal effort and you get a breather from your harder subjects. Plus, you get to beat first-years without even trying :D (Sorry that last bit was mean....)

    Actuarial Studies

This ^ I hear that it is tough, but the pay is (apparently) good. There's an active student society for actuarials and they seem to like hanging around each other (generalisation). Bobbo1 - what are you planning on combining it with?

    Sport and Aquatic Centre

They don't seem to list the price on their website: http://www.campuslife.mq.edu.au/sport/sport--aquatic-centre/membership => there's number you can call on there though. It looks pretty, but honestly, the walk up the slope to get there is exercise enough :)

what is a good combination among these commerce majors?

Re: If I do a commerce degree majoring in marketing what jobs can i get when i gradua Other than the obvious jobs with Marketing/Communication and sometimes PR firms, as well as in-house positions. There are also a wide range of other more "general" positions which will also recruit marketing...

what is a good combination among these commerce majors?

"Good" will depend on what you are interested in and what career you are planning for after uni. Accounting and Finance will obviously compliment each other. However, Marketing does teach you a lot of other skills which will also be useful *cough* communication skills *cough*

Is it uncommon for domestic students to live on campus?

It's a fair enough question for someone who hasn't been to uni yet :)

    Abolishing Honours Degrees from 2013

Well, I imagine it won't affect those already enrolled or were recently invited to enrol into Honours, if they haven't even approved or decided yet ^ Have you thought about what topic you will focus on for your honours?

    Abolishing Honours Degrees from 2013

I found this response from Macquarie to another student's question about the Honours program: "Macquarie University is currently considering whether to adopt the international standard of postgraduate study known as the 'Bologna model'. Under this model, students undertake a two-year Masters...

    which university for finance industry

The combined B Applied Finance programs are very popular - if you combine it with economics, there's a fair amount of similarity between the two areas and they really complement each other. On the other hand, if you combine it with commerce - you get more choices in majors. Depends on what you...
