I'm not sure about the cut offs but isn't there only a limited amount of courses available for mid year transfer? And if you're trying to transfer to economics/commerce at UNSW, I think you'll have to have completed at least 36 units, so after a year

If you're coming first all it means is that in the actual HSC the top mark becomes your internal mark. So it doesn't matter if you're coming first by a long shot or not, you'll still get the top mark in the HSC. But it does make you better prepared for the HSC I guess.

I've previously rang both UNSW and Usyd about this and both have said they only take atar if you've done less than one full time year. I'm pretty sure its the same for other universities as well.

I'm guessing no one here has done it..

There are online marking systems like Ferghsc where you can email your essay and they'll return it with feedback. Although I've heard its expensive.
