    Calls for legal same-sex marriage

Sorry i didnt finish my train of thought... i was getting at , does the 'moral environment' go round in a kind of cycle? How do we get the same environment for particular morals/ethics , at such different points in our history?

    Calls for legal same-sex marriage

Wow! Yeah that would worry me too! (rate of new technologies etc) But So many cultures have had similar moral standards to todays - but in the past? i was thinking of Ancient Roman morality...

    The Abortion Debate (continued)

Hmm thats interesting..... But what if someone decides that it is right for them to hack someone to death? How can everyone always choose what is right for them? Sounds like chaos to me? There really must be a universal RIGHT and WRONG... That originates somewhere? Thats ok Salchow , i knew you...

So does a relativist believe that ethics change over time - with the prevailing mood? A sort of moral evolution?

I would never respect a belief i think is wrong.....but i would respect a person's right to have their belief:) Good on you for saying what you think:) Even tho it is Politically Incorrect:)

    The Abortion Debate (continued)

Beg pardon: I wasnt meaning to ask how long a fetus/baby is in utero.:D I wanted to know at what point in 'fetus'development it is deemed unacceptable to 'terminate' (abort) So i guess when the fetus is thought of in more human terms.

    Rudd v Binge Drinking

You are right, i didnt mean a public representative shouldnt say anything negative - Im just disappointed that Blanchett would say she was ashamed to be Australian.

    Calls for legal same-sex marriage

    Rudd v Binge Drinking

Its pretty sad that someone Aussies might think of as an ambassador for Australia would speak that way ( & PUBLICALLY???) So many celebrities are labour?

    Rudd v Binge Drinking

Poor old Gordon. He's a bit of a sad apple.... I dont know much about his political career , just that he isnt liked. Cate Blanchett said she was ashamed of Australia? GRRR. I thought she was so....(for the want of a better word) articulate?

What should i do after the HSC???

Do you know what you want to do careerwise? It might be good to get a job for a year...just for the resume and to give you a break?
  15. T

Isn't it funny how receiving marks can affect your feelings towards a subject??

mmhmm! Yes, I didnt like maths until i recieved my marks for it - i think it just inceased my confidence , i spent less time stressing over it and more thinking about how useful and sensible it was....yes , i totally relate:)
  16. T

    Rudd v Binge Drinking

It does seem like Rudd is still trying to win a popularity contest. (But he is already PM?)

    Should English Be Compulsary Poll

Hmmm. I think maybe a final test at the end of highschool - to check that students have a basic grasp of english ( that was NOT part of HSC) would be a good idea - for those who arent very 'into' english, and would rather make up units with other subjects

    Calls for legal same-sex marriage

20yrs? wow, thats a long time:) I wouldnt say from one example though , that abolishing marriage would have no impact. After all , i guess there are groups of people in different places in the world who CHOOSE to live without private property rights...but that wouldnt neccessarily be indicative...
  19. T

    Calls for legal same-sex marriage

Well , private property rights have been removed before, and that has impact ( i think negative , personally). I dont think marriage has ever been abolished , so i have to tell you honestlyI dont know what impact it would have:) Oops sorry Graney i messed up your quote with mine!
