    Ln absolute values in integration.

The fact that we see that they are from the 80s suggest that HSC examiners care less about its subtlety nowadays.

    Real Roots Q

Expand that and make it greater or equal to 0.

    Real Roots Q

That's correct. Think of the quadratic formula: x = \dfrac{-b\pm \sqrt{\Delta} }{-2a} The nature of the roots depend on the discriminant - if the roots are real, what's the restriction on the discriminant? Greater than or equal to 0.

    Roots etc... Q. :)

Consider the product of the roots.

    Ln absolute values in integration.

If it doesn't affect the integral as a whole you shouldn't, but you should include them. If you're evaluating functions and it happens that you have negative x you'll need to take the absolute values with you.

    Rectangular Hyperbola Help?

There's a (significant) leap in the proof - how do you just ;know; to go XY = .... ? It's not likely to be tested, but you know the general concepts of the proof. If ever they'd ask for the proof, they'd probably split into 2 parts and then make you deduce it.

University of sydney merit, entry and faculty scholarships

Just a side note, for the ENTRY scholarship you don't usually get an interview. You'll most likely get one for the MERIT, and they sift the rest out there.
