Ancient vs. Modern vs. History Extension

Haha, we only had two people in my Extension class so we turned up to the subject ready to argue with each other cos we had different ideological standpoints on history :)

    usyd enrolment

Yeah, saw a lot of confused people at MacLaurin Hall with their handbook and just flicking to choose their electives on the spot. Though, they do have the chance to actually change it later on, don't they?

should teachers teach beyond the syllabus

^Thats the problem with most of our courses and exams - its just a matter of regurgitation. There's only a few subjects like the Extension ones that allow a bit of problem-solving and critical thinking to be developed. If there is a major shift towards this 'thinking outside the box' style, I...

should teachers teach beyond the syllabus

I think its up to the student themselves, as the syllabus is already filled. Some students I know personally have a problem with thinking 'outside the box', because they question the need of doing so when its not going to be examined in the exam. If students do decide to learn beyond the...

    Racist Voilence at Australia Day

Exactly. Something like Bastille Day in France or the national day in Germany celebrating the fall of the Berlin Wall. Just have to wait for the day we become a republic...

Would you trade your HECS debt for a volunteer Youth Corps?

I like this idea, but I think the added incentive of doing so defeats the purpose of the scheme being a 'volunteer'-based one; after all, HECS-students are getting discounts off their debt for helping out. Like what Exphate said.

    Gran Torino

Haha, Clint Eastwood's remarks were hilarious lol. And his fake finger gun and growls! Great Eastwood movie - 8/10.

    usyd enrolment

I came 20-30 minutes before I was supposed to (with Combined Law) and I came prepared with what units of study I wanted to do, so that saved a lot of time. Most of the enrolment forms just consisted of you checking if your details were correct. And yeah, student ID from Fisher Library :)

    everyones studying? ahh

Well, its still good advice. You have the summer holidays to relax and freshen up after the Prelim and the first term of the HSC. Considering that you have around 4-5 weeks into the second term to prepare for your half-yearlies (in most cases), it'll be beneficial for you in the long term. Just...
