Was Sydney Boys forced to redo the 2009 HSC math exam?

Was the supplementary trial exam much different than this one that was leaked? Did you get your marks for the leaked trial exam? How long did they take to re write the trial?

    study notes

I disagree. You need notes in maths...

    Vertical Motion

    Coroneos

I have some for selected questions for the mechanics chapters. Our teacher was kind enough to do them and write them up nicely and then photocopy them for us...

    School very behind in Maths?

I think our school was on Practical Minima/Maxima (ie. the last aspect of the Geom Appl topic) around this time last year.

    '06 HSC Projectile Question

    a) 45 m/s b) \sqrt{45^2 + 40^2}=60.2 m/s c) v=u+at At max height v=0 So 0=40 - 9.8t t= 4.08 s Now S_y=u_yt+\frac{1}{2}a_yt^2 \\ S_y=40 \times 4.08 - \frac{1}{2} \times 9.8 \times 4.08^2 \\ =81.63 m d) \delta x = u_xt = 45 \times (4.08 \times 2) = 367m Probs did some stupid error somewhere...

    Maths Ext. 2 By Correspondence

So there is an Ext 2 teacher at your school? If so, could you ask him/her questions?

    3U Prob

Thanks for that. Would it be possible to do it using nCr?
  9. C

    3U Prob

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough =\ I was wondering how I could do this by first determining the number of ways... (ie. without determining the probability). I think there's a way, but not I'm not sure how to work it out... :( Thanks

    Calculus Help :)

    a=kx, for k constant. When t=0, a=3 and x=160 3=160k k= 3/160 Now a=d/dx(1/2 v^2) so 1/2 v^2=3x^2/320 + c When t=0, v=0, x=0 So c=0 so v^2= 3x^2/160 etc I'll complete later if someone already hasn't.

    study notes

Oh I just realised that I replied to a thread regarding to General Mathematics... My tip was in relation to 2U Maths... I don't know what the general course is like so unfortuntely I'm not able to comment much about that. Sorry =\

    study notes

Use Coroneos and make your notes on that. Make your notes nice and simple that include major types of questions. Later you can put some harder examples in there.

    3U Prob

Hi, How would I determine the number of ways, instead of Probability? Thanks again
  14. C

    3U Prob

If 6 men and 6 women are to be seated about a round table and take their seats randomly, determine the probability that a particular woman is not seated next to either of the 2 particular men. Thanks

    Advice on MX1

I was like you I think. I got 83 in my SC (A9 grade). I hardly used to do any work. Even during Prelim Ext 1 I was ranking around 10-15 / 75 or so... (mainly thanks to a really good teacher), without doing much work. But I picked up my game in Term 4 of Year 11 and for the first 2U assessment...

Introduction to Engineering Design and Innovation - ENGG1000

lol... well about 7 people from my high school are going to be doing B Comm/Eng ... so I think I'll just stick with them :D
  17. C

    Roots with conditions

Nice.. I don't think I did that though..
  18. C

    Roots with conditions

Ahh yes first principles for trig functions... I think Coroneos also uses that method. I find that his examples are more systematic than other books, which I like. What's the tangent rule?
  19. C

    Polynomial - Newton's Method

Lol. Sometimes you gotta pick which battles to fight and ask yourself the question "If I win this battle, what do I gain from it?". There's no point in winning some stupid battle if I'm going to waste all my time and energy and get no reward or prize. Maybe that's some wisdom for ya ;) I...
  20. C

    Roots with conditions

Do you have an example where it could simplify things? (in the current course) Ahh okay... That explains why it is in the Coroneos 2U book, and not in the 3U book.
