    Mathematical Curiosities.

Yeah so just whenever you integrate stick in a +C, its more natural to have 2 constants, but usually we only bother ourselves with one!

    Mathematical Curiosities.

    This is just from my course notes summarised: $Solve the ODE $ \dfrac{dy}{dx} = g(x)h(y) $ and write $ f = \dfrac{1}{h} $ so that $ \\ f(y) \dfrac{dy}{dx} = g(x). \\ $ Let $F_0(y) $ and $ G_0(x) $ be antiderivatives of $f(y) $ and $ g(x) $ respectively.$ \\ $They exist provided $ f(y) $ and $...

You should've done this in Calculus first year maths... (or are you probing the question?)

    Mathematical Curiosities.

Also the stuff about mathematical constants...the symbols \pi and e are just SYMBOLIC representations of a concept which happen to be constant. For pi, it is the ratio between the circumference of a circle to its diameter (many will argue circumference to radius would be more appropriate, see...

    Mathematical Curiosities.

I'm not quite understanding what he is saying... So if you said that v = \dfrac{dx}{dt} then \mathcal{L} = \int_a^b \sqrt{1+\left(\dfrac{dv}{dt}\right)^2} \mathop{dt} is the ...???

You contradicted yourself in that sentence. Please clarify.

    Mathematical Curiosities.

There is some theory called the 'p integrals' and explains that that for p>1, the integral \int_1^\infty \dfrac{1}{x^p}\mathop{dx} $ converges.$ The point is that the successive parts being added are getting smaller and smaller at a fast enough rate so that the total area is finite. The length...

Students taking easy subject options says SCEGGS Darlinghurst principal Jenny Allum

I won't bother showing you what you're in for. I'll just let you find out yourself next year if you do take physics. :)

Umm I don't exactly know who you've been talking to.. You've realised nothing ;)

Not true. You haven't done first year physics so I'd say you shouldn't assume. Mx2 mechanics is good for about 2 weeks of first semester mechanics at USYD. The rest of the semester is largely new material that you wouldn't have done ( thermal physics and waves and oscillations.) Second semester...
