except for geneds... all geneds are considered year 1 subjects

    Actuarial/Mathematics Majors

I am afraid that this gentleman is grossly mistaken. Affinity will be on computer games.. and Charles will have a math camp to go to (which is prefered over actuarial ones)

    Studying @ UNSW – a guide from a student

Re: Textbooks / Handbooks / Student Fees Feasibility of this depends on the subject area, the lecturer, and the quality(or lack of) of the provided mateials.

    Yet another Q bout majors....

technically neither of the 2 subjects mentioned are required for an accounting major from the university. However, they ARE required by the professional bodies. INFS1602 should be postponed, since it is not a prerequisite for any accounting related course, it is available in both sessions (has...

    Actuarial/Mathematics Majors

There will only be a handful (less than 5 perhaps) doing those 2 specific majors. Just take the intersection of the set of students in the discrete maths lecture and those in math 1151 (make sure you ignore any computer science geek/actuarial geek). And guess what, you will spend the next 2...

Majoring in Actuarial Studies, Mathematics AND Statistics?

Even if this is allowed it will be tight scheduling... and it doesn't mean much to potential employers, since mathematicians, statisticians and actuaries sound about the same. From another perspective, there will be alot of overlap going on between the courses. So what's taught is not really...

    Whats the Difference Between

Although this is generally correct, there are exceptions. For example, accounting has homework checks once in a while, some has attendance marks, and some has "participation" marks such as comp1091 (discontinued course). There's even a lecturer who marks attendance(which is rare in general...

    math1031

Cola is more of a toy program cooked up by the comp science department. And don't think you will get away with mathematics after first year.. "research methods" is teh PSYC code name for statistics

    BCom/BSc first year subjects

You don't need FINS1612 to start 1613, Macroeconomics and accounting will suffice as prerequisites. Four courses per semester is standard.. it is highly unlikely that the commerce faculty will allow more. The chaps at the maths department are more flexible though.

    maths studying

hmm you have around 5 hours each day.. so that makes 35 a week. divide by 3 that will be around 10-11. a bit less if you have sports, work, or seeing friends ofcourse.. only study when you feel you can absorb.
