Official BOS Study Meat v2.0 (Winter Edition)

Re: Official BOS Study Meat v2.0 Seminar on question 6s/harder 3U sounds exciting.

    Non-formulae general solution

Yep that lol. Although need to remember whether you use \pm depending on which trig function it is.

When do you start studying for trials?

:( So much work to get through. I would be trial prepping right now but english really throws everything off balance.. Start early, take the pressure off later.

    Favourite instrument?

Piano and violin, but more piano.

    Non-formulae general solution

That's what i do, but in my head lol. There are some special cases that can only be generalised by thinking or through drawing out the graph as your maths head does. If your maths head teacher wants you to follow that, do it. Although in the HSC exam, you should be able to just use the formula.

    Physics Help

Hopefully my year 11 skills aren't too rusty lol. If there are any mistakes, feel free to correct me. a) For resistance in series, simply add them together. For resistance in separate lines in parallel circuits, 1/R(total) = 1/R1 + 1/R2 (i.e. the resistance in each line) b) Voltage remains...

    Rearrange cos^3x...

    cos3x = cos(x + 2x)\\=cosxcos2x - sinxsin2x\\=cosx(2cos^2x -1) - 2sin^2xcosx\\=2cos^3x - cosx - 2cosx(1 - cos^2x)\\=2cos^3x - cosx - 2cosx + 2cos^3x\\=4cos^3x - 3cosx\\~\therefore cos3x = 4cos^3x - 3cosx\\$Rearranging in terms of $ cos^3x,\\4cos^3x = cos3x + 3cosx\\cos^3x = \frac{1}{4}(cos3x +...

    Threshold Freq. and WOrk Function

Nope, flying off the metal = KE.

    Threshold Freq. and WOrk Function

They're ejected as in they're removed from the electron orbit it was in with the nucleus of a metal atom.

    Threshold Freq. and WOrk Function

First lets define a few terms. The work function is the MINIMUM energy incident required on a metal surface such that an electron is emitted with ZERO kinetic energy. The threshold frequency is the frequency of light that is able to provide energy exactly equal to the work function (nothing...

    Anyone doing Science Comp tomorrow?

Yep, it's on tomorrow for me. :) Didn't realise it was tomorrow until an announcement haha.

    Quanta Vs Astrophysics REVIEW PLZ

Read through a bit of each and see which interests you. Personally, i prefer quanta to quarks although astrophysics seems easier.

    Molar Theory - Chemistry

Try these questions: http://www.testhorizon.com/qb/PDFTest/MoleConcept.pdf There are worked solutions at the bottom so you can always check if your method is correct or not. Make sure you understand why you do certain things, e.g. why you have to divide the number of atoms of a compound by...

    Determining Anions & Cations!

You could say "Add Cl- (in the form of NaCl) for a white precipitate" although i wouldn't know the marking guidelines so its best to ask your teacher.

Can I still get an ATAR of 92+?

I think you're underestimating the HSC lol. You would have to be a top 2U/3U student to achieve that 2U mark (assuming you mean out of 100). That would be a band 6 for chemistry, a high band 6 for business (maybe state rank? i don't know what the cut off is). But with those marks in the HSC...

    Should I drop 3u maths?

It won't affect the scaling of your other subjects. If you get low in a subject, you will end up with a low scaled mark for that subject which means a lower aggregate (total sum of all your scaled marks for all your subjects out of 500) meaning a lower ATAR.
