english + history skills in other subjects

Re: how many units do you plan to do for the hsc? Yeah, I don't know anyone who's had tutoring, except for a couple of Asian kids. So sorry if I seemed shocked by the kindergarten tutoring thing, tutoring in itself is a little alien to me...and in kindergarten!

Studying over the holidays (yr 11 exams)

Most assignments can be done in one night. You have all those hours that you would normally sleep in, and it is just a matter of managing time. You just adjust your pace to suit the fact that you have a limited amount of time...and it all magically works out. Or something. I'm tired from...

Studying over the holidays (yr 11 exams)

Darn, I should have taken this advice :( Especially in physics. I just don't have the motivation, though; light and mirrors bore me. I can't wait for year 12, we get to design rollercoasters! yay! and English was just weird, we were meant to be filling in some computer worksheet but...

Which subject do you find the most boring so far?

I love Chemistry :) It's my favourite science subject, by far. It just all makes *sense* to me, and so much of it explains stuff that happens, and how things happen at the most fundamental level - which I really enjoy. The main reason I chose Biology was because it's kinda the science...

    Which textbooks do you use?

English - the set novels, plus another book about English grammar or something Maths - Jacaranda Maths Quest for Queensland (B and C) Biology - Biology: An Australian Perspective (at home) Chemistry - some weird, heavy American textbook that we have to lug around to class everyday :( Physics...

Studying over the holidays (yr 11 exams)

Yup, Qld people have school tomorrow. I'm lucky, I go to a private school so I still got two weeks. But state school people went back this week, so they only got one week, haha.

english + history skills in other subjects

But do they study English like as a second language, and then do essays/understanding texts/whatever in Korean (being first language)? Or do you mean that there is more a focus on maths/science?

Re: how many units do you plan to do for the hsc? TUTORING IN KINDERGARTEN??????? What the heck, that is just weird...

Studying over the holidays (yr 11 exams)

You realise that that's like a week away?? On another note, school tomorrow for me :( I have to take down the big "It's Holidays!" poster I made for my room...

english + history skills in other subjects

Re: how many units do you plan to do for the hsc? Wow, that's pretty full-on. So by the level of mathematics, do you mean that that is the standard for *everyone*?? Wait, that was a stupid question. That was the entire point of your post. Sorry. It just seems so odd, because I can't...

What's the most difficult book you've ever read (or tried to)? (Lacan, Joyce, etc)

Persuasion, by Jane Austen, due to sheer boring-ness. But on the other hand, I've never read any of those other books that have been suggested, so my opinion isn't worth much. But I got A Clockwork Orange out of the library today, and am looking forward to reading it very much!

leaving home. what are my options?

I think the centerlink criteria for independence are a bit weird. My parents' income is above the threshold for YA, but I am (most probably) going to be leaving home to go to uni and my parents aren't going to be paying anything for me (unless I ask them for a loan, but I mean, I would be...

Great prioritising you're doing there, foram! haha

Studying over the holidays (yr 11 exams)

I'm the complete opposite. I find exams a bit easier (used to be a lot easier) because when the examiners/teachers are writing the exams they realise that you have to do it under exam conditions, so they write questions that can be answered in a couple of hours (generally). But...

Which subject do you find the most boring so far?

Have to agree with biology...it bores me to tears, or at least the unit that we just completed (about cells and respiration, and the digestive system was randomly thrown in). We have to finish doing experimental investigations on enzymes (there's the boring part right there), but apparently our...
