    integration

Yes, you're allowed to do that. Consider the graph of y=1/x. Say you want to find the area between x= - 2 and x = -1 then by symmetry this is the same as the area between x=1 and x=2. Or just use absolute values (easier ;) )
  2. C

    Vector functions

ahh my bad then. I thought I saw a '4t'..

does 2u maths still count towards my atar?

Yeah... and how do you find horizontal asymptotes? That right, TAKE THE LIMIT as x--> +/- infinity... and it could well be asked in a 2U exam. ie, find stat points, inflexions, tendencies and hence sketch. What? That infinity/infinity = 1 :S Yeah right, that's what they all say... No, it...
  4. C

    Induced EMF and Lenz's Law

Ahh good ol' HSC Physics...
  5. C

4u students and ranks in 2u

Maybe internally they would do that. But they only submit assessment marks from Ext 1 and Ext 2, so you could wipe the 2U assessments with your backside and just get really good marks in Ext 1 and Ext 2 assessments... :p
  6. C

4u students and ranks in 2u

In our school the 4 unit students only had to do the first assessment, ie. Series. Then we didn't do anymore internal assessments for 2U. However I did 1 mark off first (ie. 34/40) in that first assessment :D
  7. C

    Vector functions

It's the shape of a helix.
  8. C

    Dishonest Answers

I think I fudged a conics question in my Ext 2 half yearly... I needed to get 81 (ie. 9*9) but for some reason I ended up with 7*7=49, so I just changed the 7's to 9's ... and I got full marks :D
  9. C

Mo-99 production + chemical equations.. help!

Ahh the wonders of not doing HSC Chem anymore :D Oh and I don't think this is examinable in the HSC...
  10. C

Subbing infinity into limits of an Integral

These are improper integral and are not in the scope of the current NSW syllabus for Extension 2 Mathematics I believe.
  11. C

does 2u maths still count towards my atar?

The method employed is to factorise the fastest growing term in the denominator from both the numerator and denominator and cancel. Nothing that involves infinity/infinity. It could well be asked in a 2U exam. Although yes, it would more likely be asked in a 3U exam. So go figure. You'd be...
  12. C

does 2u maths still count towards my atar?

Your 'theory' fails with something like (2x+1)/(x-1) even though both the denominator and numerator are linear. Didn't you read above? I stated the 4 cases of indeterminant forms. I knew them when I was doing my HSC. It was wrong because it clearly fails for stuff like (lnx)/x and the example...
  13. C

does 2u maths still count towards my atar?

Since when in the HSC infinity/infinity = 1 :S And no, I was not using Uni maths to explain HSC concepts. I'll say 'hi' to you soon though :P
  14. C

does 2u maths still count towards my atar?

You know what was really funny? The fact that the day after this 'argument', we had a lecture on limits which proved that I was right... :hammer:
  15. C

    roots/polynomial question!!

Are you sure that you didn't type the equation wrong?
  16. C

    Combination and Permutation

*sigh* I dunno why ppl hate Coroneos so much =\
  17. C

    roots/polynomial question!!

I think the questions is wrong. Where's it from?
  18. C

    Combination and Permutation

    Mine does...
  19. C

    Combination and Permutation

Coroneos :) I did solutions too for the Perms and Combs chapter. I found that it covers most types.
  20. C

    Another Limits Question

I did it mentally now and I think you're correct :o
