    UOW Discovery Day

Re: Who went to Wollongong Discovery Day Hey, I was there! Yep, saw the conga line too. Were you part of it? I was just watching. I really liked the seminar on languages at uni, and going overseas for 6 months as part of that. I was at the bih Psychology talk at the end of the day, and that...

    just a question...

Hi guys, I am currently doing english extension 2, maths extension 1, mod hist and visual arts. I want to drop visual arts and pick up history extension - is this allowed?? the board says you need 3 courses of 2 unit value (i'd have that). and FOUR subjects. Does extension history count as a...

    Assessment - Militarism

Hi guys, I have a modern history research paper to write, but I am having trouble getting started.. The topic I am investigating is the growth of militarism in Europe leading up to WW1. I'm finding it hard to find books and websites that talk alot about militarism specifically. Can anyone...

Is French Beginners a good course to select?

Continuers languages scale well; but french beginners at least has below average scaling

Is French Beginners a good course to select?

It's true that beginners is heaps easier than continuers, but the flipside is that beginners scales crappily.

    Year 11

Year 11's purpose is to prepare you for the workload of the HSC year, which is alot more than in year 10. It gives you time to adjust, and you can stuff it up a bit and fine-tune your study habits for year 12 (you can stuff up because nothing counts towards your HSC in yr 11). Also, you get...

    Which English ?

If you start extension and drop, you have lost nothing. If you don't give it a go, you may regret it later. Just start extension. YOu don't have to keep it all the way through. It is a challenging subject, but I wouldn't be too worried about being overwhelmed.

Is French Beginners a good course to select?

Hey, I actually DO french beginners, and I would say that it's a fairly interesting subject, if you want to learn the language. And as for the person who just said that you would need to be really dedicated, I couldn't disagree more. There is probably a big gap in workload in beginners and...

What subjects are you thinking of dropping next yr?

I find it really hard to concentrate in the subject I want to drop, because I know it's only for one more term... It's frusterating to have to put time into a subject that's not for the HSC. lol what a bludge french has become...

Is it suicide to do both Extension 2 courses (Eng + Maths)?

I was thinking about doing both 4 unit courses, then i could bludge art because it doesn't count. I dont know if I have the motivation for that much maths though... Good job for you guys who are doing it, your self control and time management must be fantastic!

Confused about English Ext 1 Course (Yr 11)

I completely agree with the person who said do advanced english... Seriously, even if you don't think you can handle it, start with advanced. YOu can always drop to standard, but it is hard to go up to advanced if you realise standard is too easy. Advanced scales a million times better, and it...

hey year teners, what uai are you aiming for?

There is no need to swear at each other over a thread like this! Anyway, it is motivating to set goals, but keep it general and be aware that they may change. And really, it is a bit arrogant to go for 99 or above at this point: you have NO IDEA what sort of workload that means. Someone was...

    Organising Work (merged)

Re: Folders or Books? My best friend is this ring bound book with dividers and periforated sheets - one section for each subject, sheets go in the dividors (which double as sheet pockets) and when I finish something all the work and sheets are removed and put in my big folders for each subject...

hey year teners, what uai are you aiming for?

Dudes, how can you aim for a uai of 99 when you have no idea of the amount of effort it takes to acheive in yrs 11 and 12, and you don't know how you'll adjust to the jump? Don't be surprised if you change your goal when you get a taste for year 11. Remember that the UAI is not the end of the...

Confused about English Ext 1 Course (Yr 11)

The major work in ext 2 does not have to be a short story either - it can be anything from a film, a movie script, an essay, to a radio show. It's up to you. You may be asked to do a smaller major work as an assessment task in year 11 for ext 1 (our school does that so we can get an idea of...

    Feelings towards year 12

haha my mod teacher insists that we will all have some form of meltdown between now and the HSC. I't heartwarming to see how much faith our teachers have in us... lol

    Feelings towards year 12

Hey all, as we all head for the inevitable stress and workload of next year, I was wondering how everyone was feeling about finally reaching year 12 (soon). I personally am very excited and can't wait, because I'll be doing the ext courses I want to, and get 18 frees a fortnight (woot!) However...
