The Ship has sailed, my friends!

yeah it kind of knocks your confidence, doesn't it? not that i've been let down because i haven't tried yet, but i know the feeling. what uni do you go to?

How do you pick out the First Year Students

i wish my lectures were interactive like this. everyone's still so shell-shocked the lecturers can't coax anyone to reply, even as a large group.

The Ship has sailed, my friends!

i'm having this problem too, i'm pretty shy. i sit next to someone in a lecture and my thought process is something like this: talk to them! no dont! talk to them! no dont! etc you may be able to infer that i am socially retarded. and i dont live in the area so it's hard to stay...

Does this happen to you in lectures??

this happened to me the other day on the train (with a guy, not girl)

    buying coop books online

if you need a textbook quick i recommend textbookexchange.com. upside, you get the book much cheaper than the co-op (as it's second hand they're usually around half price), but the downside is that you need to organise to meet with the person (unless there's a postage option). i got mine...

How do you pick out the First Year Students

i agree. there's this guy who did it a few times in eco, he was just trying to be like 'look im so smart' to the lecturer. so annoying.

    transfer from bbus/blaw @uts to @unsw

assuming you're first year (profile says HSC 2009), i'm pretty sure you have to do a full academic year (i.e. you cant transfer at the beginning of semester 2) before you can transfer.

How do you pick out the First Year Students

yeah i disagree about the ATAR asking too, no one has asked me and i haven't asked anyone. it's a stupid thing to do anyway, either you or the person you're talking to will end up feeling awkward. there's no real way to ask/answer without sounding elitist and snobby.

    First Day

i had a similar experience of getting hopelessly lost. however mine is quite pathetic, as the room it took me so long to find was one i'd been in two days earlier lol.

How do you pick out the First Year Students

that happened in one of mine. half an hour through a marketing lecture these girls left, and the lecturer was like, 'already? :uhoh:' and then some guy at the door was like, 'they just realised this isnt the accounting lecture'. and the lecturer was like, 'it took them half an hour?'

How do you pick out the First Year Students

haha i have to admit, this was me on the first day. one time i realised i was going in the completely opposite direction than i was supposed to, there's no way to correct that without looking completely retarded. i actually know where my lectures are now, though.

How do you pick out the First Year Students

for some reason i can just tell, being a first year myself. probably because i can detect the terror in their eyes or that 'omg im so lost' look. also, a lot of the girls seem to have more makeup than brains.

    First Day

is this the gucci handbag obsessed eco lecturer?

    First Day

oh okay cool. see i was confused because i got one answer from the student centre over the phone and another in person, and on the uts online marketing section it said no tutes so i was life wtf? anyway, thanks for clearing that up :)

    First Day

i got lost looking for the business student centre to get my id card, had to ask someone in the end. the guy who helped me was lovely, walked me half the way there haha. i didnt have any trouble finding my lecture, though, and it was all pretty simple to understand. just a question guys...

    Deferring Uni to Work

yeah see i thought, 'awesome i can see my friends all the time' but since all of them went to uni i only saw them about once a week. and i only live half an hour away from them, not two hours.

    Rules for Customers

attn: shit customers - stop coming in when i'm in charge. i had so many in a row the other day, it was ridiculous. it never happens on any other shift but mine. special order people - if your name isn't coming up in my system, you've probably ordered it somewhere else. i can't really help you...

    importance of faculty welcome

yeah im missing it too. after going on monday i'm convinced our oweek is basically a waste of time

    Orientation

i went on the 22nd (if you saw an incredibly sunburnt girl, it was probably me). i should've made more of an effort to talk to people, i kind of ended up talking to one person most of the time. and on the campus tour we went to a bar at the end but i had to leave so i couldn't chat to more...

    Soundwave Festival 2010

yeah i agree with this, plus the toilets had run out of paper by the time i got there which was like 1pm. and they hosed people down at the front of the mosh, but only while the bands were playing - i was roasting waiting for paramore to come on. i wish they chose a venue with more shade and...
