    HSC 2016 MX2 Integration Marathon (archive)

    Re: MX2 2016 Integration Marathon It is indeed quite tedious, but nonetheless a good exercise as it requires several techniques. On another note, are there actually any 2016'ers who are participating in these maths marathons? (besides Paradoxica, he doesn't count :P )

    Maxima and minima

    I think you're misunderstanding what kmh^-1 means: it is simply a different way of writing the unit of km/h (kilometres per hour), where kilometres (km) are divided by hours (h). Dividing by hours is the same as multiplying by hours to the power of minus one, hence the unit is kmh^-1.

    Couple of questions

    Concentrations of 0.01-0.1ppm (and above) of phosphate stimulate excessive plant growth (algal blooms), which leads to the degradation of a water body (termed eutrophication): less sunlight is able to penetrate into the water body and the biological oxygen demand is increased, which can result...

    Re: HSC 2016 MX2 Combinatorics Marathon A question for the actual 2016'ers: 4 letters of the word METRONOME are chosen and arranged to form a word. How many possible different words are there?

    Re: HSC 2016 4U Marathon Next Q: \textrm{A solid has a base that is the region enclosed by the curve y=lnx, the x axis and the line x=3.} \textrm{Cross-sections taken perpendicular to the x axis are regular hexagons, with one side in the base.} \textrm{Find the volume of the solid.}

    Extension 2 Reference Sheet

    I would have found it a little odd if the BOSTES had included any Extension 2 formulae - especially as they plan to dramatically revise the content of the course in the coming years. In addition, there are barely any formulae which would be included in something like this - for example...
