Personally I would recommend staying in English Advanced. Yes, if you dropped to Standard, you would be more likely to get a better rank, but you need to remember the fact that aligning for Advanced is sooo much better than the aligning for Standard, and on top of that, ATAR scaling for Advanced...

As others have said, it's definitely better to cover Prelim/HSC content while you're actually in high school, as opposed to doing a bridging course after you complete your HSC. If you're set on doing engineering, then I'd definitely recommend trying to find a way to do 3U while you're still in...

I would seriously recommend doing the option that your school/class does, as opposed to picking whatever option sounds the best to you. (plus there's also the fact that biochem has 10 (!!) syllabus sections)

Revise everything and anything in the first two topics in the syllabus

Before I dropped music I did Overture 1928 by Dream Theater as my core performance (on drums), because it incorporates a wide variety of time signatures yet was still fairly easy to play. Plus it's a good length too

Anything that interests you and/or provides you with skills needed to follow a chosen career path. Whether that be med, law, arts, commerce, a certificate/diploma at TAFE, a tradie apprenticeship, etc. Prestige doesn't determine the worth of a particular course.
