    Accelerated Maths

+1 The benefit from doing 2 and 3U accelerated will overall outweigh any negatives, namely that you may have a little less time to focus on your preliminary subjects. How you do in prelim doesn't at all affect your HSC marks (that being said, doing bad in prelim can indirectly have a negative...

University of Sydney to cut 100 degrees and triple research investment

Hmm, personally I like the idea of having a much smaller amount of degrees; especially given that so many degrees are similar and can essentially be the same (depending on what majors are taken). The degree cuts will simplify it the whole situation. What is this 'advanced studies' though?? And...

Haven't been doing too well in year 12, can I still get an atar of 75-80?

There is definitely still time; so far you've only completed significantly less than half of the assessments/tests that go towards your final HSC marks. Try and be consistent with your study between now and the final exams; consistency is a large part of time management that a lot of people...

    Advanced or Standard?

Personally I would recommend staying in English Advanced. Yes, if you dropped to Standard, you would be more likely to get a better rank, but you need to remember the fact that aligning for Advanced is sooo much better than the aligning for Standard, and on top of that, ATAR scaling for Advanced...

    USYD Chatter Thread 2016

Re: USYD Chatter Thread - Semester 1 2016 Can someone (probs someone who's done adv science/maths) enlighten me, what approximate percentage of lectures from 2nd yr onwards are actually recorded and put online (for maths and science units)? I've heard several times from 2nd and 3rd year...

Can I do extension 1 maths???

As others have said, it's definitely better to cover Prelim/HSC content while you're actually in high school, as opposed to doing a bridging course after you complete your HSC. If you're set on doing engineering, then I'd definitely recommend trying to find a way to do 3U while you're still in...

    Biochem 2016

I would seriously recommend doing the option that your school/class does, as opposed to picking whatever option sounds the best to you. (plus there's also the fact that biochem has 10 (!!) syllabus sections)

How did you choose your core performance?

Before I dropped music I did Overture 1928 by Dream Theater as my core performance (on drums), because it incorporates a wide variety of time signatures yet was still fairly easy to play. Plus it's a good length too

    Gold Duke of ed

Anything that interests you and/or provides you with skills needed to follow a chosen career path. Whether that be med, law, arts, commerce, a certificate/diploma at TAFE, a tradie apprenticeship, etc. Prestige doesn't determine the worth of a particular course.
