    Ashes Series 2009

Probably thought Hilfenhaus was the best of the bowlers on Day One. Hauritz struggled in his spells, despite picking up Pietersen. 7/336 at stumps - evenly balanced.

And they picked up Bernhand Kohl but he turned out to have used EPO. Same goes with Thomas Dekker. Is Popovych even racing for Astana in this year's Tour?

Modern History - Historical Investigation Ideas?

The above suggestions are pretty good. I did FDR in Year 11, and he was a pretty intriguing and amazing personality study. I'm not sure whether Napoleon could be done, as he is part of the History Extension course. One thing to note, you would be surprised at the amount of people who do Che...

    Ashes Series 2009

Don't know why Punter's so reluctant to go with Katich and Clarkey using spin at times. Not sure about Hilfenhaus being in the team in front of Clark, but we'll just have to see. England batting firsttttt. EDIT: Spectacular catch by Huss to get rid of Cook. Perhaps Hilfenhaus' selection was...

    Wimbledon 2009 !!!

Return of the oldies! For Roddick to come back after last year's second round exit, patch up his game under Stefanki and push Federer, despite his struggles on Sunday night/Monday morning, is amazing. I didn't like elements of Fed's speech though. The fact that he might have unintentionally...

Imo, probably a battle between Astana and Saxobank this year. I would like to see how Andy Schleck goes this year.

    NRL State of Origin

The partnership of Ennis and Kimmorley could play out well, but we really should have stuck with some of the youngsters in Game Two. They could have gone with Wallace, Campesie or Mullen again!

Don't think Evans can win now. And Armstrong, wow.

Armstrong made a move. I think about 19s in front of Contador now after the pelaton split.

    Winter Break Chatter Thread (2009)

Contemplating transferring to do Arts/Law and major in History, rather than sticking with International and Global studies. Anyone got advice for how the senior history units are, and whether a History major is worth it? We're doing a compulsory unit on culture for International Studies next...

And I assume that Leipheimer is probably ahead of Armstrong in the pecking order. We'll just have to see after the team time trials.

Gosh, Contador's improved so much in the time trials.

Guestimating Contador. But Armstrong getting a time of 20:12 in his first Tour in four years was impressive.

The Official Le Tour De France/Cycling Thread

Le Tour de France Who's your pick for this year's Tour de France? Contador? Sastre? Armstrong? Evans? Menchov? Schleck? I'm really hoping that Evans can pull it off this time around but with the mountain stages, I think we might see Contador becoming a dual-champion in 2009. Perhaps Armstrong...

Predicting a straight sets demolition by Fed and Venus respectively.

    modern history vs physics

Depends on your personal interest and outlook. My subjective opinion would be to do Modern. If you find that it does not suit you, then by all means change to Physics or another subject in Term one next year.

info on Mathhias Schmidt (Albert Speer historian)

Schmidt was born in 1952 iirc. And in regards to interviewing him, I do not think so, as opposed to Sereny. Schmidt was more renowned for being able to utilise the original documents of Wolter (and his chronicles) when building on his work, Albert Speer: The end of a myth.
