Median ATAR vs Median Selection Rank

A friend and I noticed that for UNSW comp sci, there is a significant difference between the median selection rank and median atar. What's going on here? Most other courses don't have such a large difference between the two, particularly high in the 90s. Does UNSW have a lot of adjustment...

What does meaningful study actually look like?

^ Make sure you aren't just reading over your notes, that is not a good strategy by itself, you need to add something like explaining it out loud to yourself (@Hiheyhello s example), or drawing a mindmap/concept diagram of different things, etc, preferably trying to look at your notes as little...

    HONOUR ROLL Out Early??

I find it hard to believe NESA would completely make the entire list and have it ready to publish but with external marks only... Even so, it has been confirmed that this was a "2021 HSC distinguished achievers list" which is overall mark.

    HONOUR ROLL Out Early??

I'm pretty sure the answer to this is no. From NESA's perspective, when you complete 4u after 2u, your 2u is basically wiped from your record, and your 3u and 4u results count as 2 units each, as if you had done them all in the same year.

    HONOUR ROLL Out Early??

One advantage of accelerated is that often you can have <10 units, so you do have more time for 4u. You can also start 4u and see how you went with 2u when results are released, and how hard 4u is compared to your expectations.

    HONOUR ROLL Out Early??

i'm doing accelerated math and have been advised that if i do ext 2 that adv mark will be removed and my ext 1 mark will be doubled ie. it is no different to normal

    Calculators

I use: Primarily Casio fx-100AU PLUS 2nd ed Also have my old fx-82AU PLUS II normally in case first dies Also have TI-30XB Multiview for surds (well worth the $30 to do surds way faster for the few questions that require them), was useful in prelims, not expecting it to be as much this year

Can someone check my responses from Text 1 to Text 3 (English Studies)

Wouldn't only English Studies count because 2 units of ATAR have to be English? So Mathematics Standard 1 would never count to the ATAR

Could I have a list of things allowed in the HSC

https://educationstandards.nsw.edu.au/wps/portal/nesa/11-12/hsc/rules-and-processes/exam-equipment-list You're not allowed calculators for all exams.

VENT: Read if you want I guess.

If you know the whole cohort is not going to be doing the exam at the same time, and your cohort is likely to do this, this is the kind of thing you should raise with higher powers well before the actual exam day.

Keep making algebraic mistakes - any advice?

I do this quite a bit. if you're finishing the exam fast go back and do the questions backwards as quickly as possible. this gives you a fast but reasonable knowledge of whether a solution is correct. Very similar to what @jazz519 was saying For example if it says differentiate XYZ integrate...
