    Trigonometric Results

Hi, guys I was doing some revision today and came across these trigonometric results questions and I must have skipped the lesson becuase I have no idea on what I have to do to solve them. Any help on solving the following is greatly appreciated: 4) Simplify the following:

Thanks guys, i was subracting instead of dividing when using them simulataneously. Thanks again for the help.

    Area of a Sector

Hi, I need a bit of help with the following question: I tried to solve simultaneously but ended up with r^2-r which I couldn't really use. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Of course...that makes much more sense. Thank you for the help.

    Volumes and Areas

Thanks for the response. Im still a little confused however... In question 53b) i don't see how you got pi . [(-x^-1)] 5, 2 from pi .∫x^-2 dx [5, 2]. And in question 55b) i do not understand the last part about the area of rectangle enclosing the whole area...isn't 2 the area??? And the answer...

    Volumes and Areas

Hi all, im struggling with finding the volumes and areas in these questions. I have solved part (a) in both of these questions but cannot solve part (b) in both: I made out 53a) to equal ln (5/2) units^2 and 55a) to equal 1.29 units^3 which are both correct according to the answers. However, I...

    Deriving Issues

EDIT: I see where I went wrong...in affect I was finding the second derivate of the numerator...that was my mistake. Thanks for the help.

    Deriving Issues

Hi guys, I am struggling with this question here: I have listed my answer (well as close as I have got to the answer) beneath the question, however it is incorrect according to the book. I used the product rule to first derive the numerator to get the equation, (1+lnx)/e^x. I then used the...

    Log questions

Hello, im struggling with components in these two questions: Im completly unsure of how I would integrate in question 2, the e^x^2 confuses me the most. In question 8 I am stuck on how I would turn y=e^x into x=..., I am fine with the simpsons rule part. As always, any help is greatly...

    Integration of logs

    but shouldn't it be (pi/2).e^2(e^3-1)???

    Integration of logs

Ah ok, that makes more sense, i wasn't breaking it up into two parts. Have you guys got any idea on how the book came up with (pi/2).e^2(e^4-1) as the answer for question 11???

    Integration of logs

Thanks for the response...question 11 is alot more clear now, however the answer in the book is (pi/2).e^2(e^4-1). I just need a bit of clarification on q12...it seems you've added the 1 to ∫▒〖(x-6)/(x-1) dx should it then be ∫▒ (x-5)/(x-1) dx or is there something that i'm missing when it comes...

    Integration of logs

I am struggling with these two questions: I am unsure of how to integrate e^2y in question 11 and am stuck on the second half of question 12, as in I can show that they equal (x-6)/(x-1) but am struggling when it comes to integrating. Thanks in advance for any help. BTW sorry about the...

All makes sense now and ended up being the right answer which is always a good sign lol. Thanks for all the help.

    More log help

Ahk, i misread the equation thats why i didn't understand i though it read 1/(x-2)=0. Anyway this is my final question, howcome in question 10 it stated that 1 - ln x = 0 shouldn't it read (1-lnx)/x^2=0??? And with regard to determing its nature, how do you test for numbers below and above...

    More log help

Of course, why didn't i think of that lol. Now my problem lies in how you made y''=0 as when I use x=1/2 in the eqauation 1/x-2 i don't get 0 as an answer :S?

    More log help

Sorry guys, im still a little confused as to how you got the first derivative. In question 9 for example i would have though the first derivative would have been y'=1.(1/x)-2x because you derive the log... Could you explain where I am going wrong?

    More log help

Hi guys, i need some more help with logs and deriving them and stuff. Two questions I struggled with are below, I can get the first derivative for question 9 but am unsure of how I would get the second derivative and make it equal zero ect. And i'm completly lost on question 10 as far as making...
