    Reality TV Unethical?

hey everyone. I have an english oral presentation to write and i decided to do it on reality television and the debate about whether it is pushing the boundaries in terms of human rights and treatment. Its a really interesting topic and i would like some other peoples opinions. I thought of it...

    Virginia Tech Shootings (Merged)

it is a terrible tradgedy that may or may not have been prevented by a number of factors. however, it happened and we can't change it. I don't think it would be possible to disarm all of america and i think it would be a bad move to try and do so, as a. president bush is already disfavourably...

What is your all time favourite book?

Rozencrantz and Guildenstern are dead - Tom Stoppard. It's actually a play, but its good nonetheless. Also, Lord of the Flies (can't remember the author) must have been very well written because it had a huge effect on me. I hated it though, absolutly sickening i think.

Most annoying book of all time

How dare you, i love love love Lord of the Rings. Favourite book. Though i have many favourite books. Although i admit it isn't for everyone and the start is a little slow. I have one friend who fell asleep in the first movie; she didn't even try to read it, and another who read the hobbit...

Most annoying book of all time

Ohh no, i love the Axis Trilogy!!! Read it Josie, trust me, they are good. I read it a long time ago and don't really remember, but i'm sure that it all gets good in the end. That's how these things work. You are only on the first book, keep reading!! It's a fairytale, everyone always lives...

Most annoying book of all time

Umm, try Catch 22. Funny book and all, but after 100 pages, i was like 'does anything actually happen', because it's basically just prose about what the guy does in real time basically and what he is thinking and the really bizarre conversations he has. And then my sister assured me that while...

Review the last book you read

Also, if you want to tackle some french reading, Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery is a great little story. It is isn't long, and it is availiable in english, but the style of writing works a lot better in french. Its about Saint-Exupery (written in first person) and his experiences...

Review the last book you read

wow Jhakka, you read ALOT! As for me, VCE kinda takes a lot of time out of my reading time! So naturally the last book i read was for english. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini Basically covers the life story of Amir, a boy who grows up in Afghanistan in the 1970's, in Wazir Akbar Khan...

    Amelie. Post Modernism

I don't do post modernism, in fact i am in Victoria doing VCE, but i studied Amelie in Media, so some of the things i covered might be relevant. I would say that the use of filmic techniques like putting the beating heart outside her top so you can see it (when she sees Nino), and the key when...

The Glass House has been axed...

i don't understand why you are on this thread. If all you want to do is bag people and the Glass House, go somewhere else. It is sad that you have enough time on your hands to hang around a thread like this just to bag out other people - the people on here are here because they like the Glass...

The Glass House has been axed...

maybe, but Australia's Largest Selling NEwspaper - thought that is according to them so it probably isn't true. In case your interested, murdoch also owns The Australian, the Daily Telegraph, the Weekly Times and the Courier Mail. I'm going now

The Glass House has been axed...

Is the Herald Sun's own website a legitimate source for you? Try here: http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/aboutus I particularly like the bit: "Since 1987, HWT has been a division of News Limited, which in turn is part of The News Corporation Limited, controlled by Mr Rupert Murdoch. "

The Glass House has been axed...

The Glass House has been axed...

i'm not going to fight with you over it - i know we both have completely different opinions, but personally i would be a bit cautious saying that one of Australian's biggest newspapers is a reliable source. Many of our biggest newspapers are owned by media moguls (big guns in the media industry...

The Glass House has been axed...

withoutaface, i think you are being a tad naive in this - of course they aren't going to say 'yeah we axed it because its biased against our favourite Prime Minister. Long live Howard!'. THey are going to pretend it is for any other reason. in what you quoted, they said they were getting rid of...

The Glass House has been axed...

 How this ended up revolving around voting practices i don't know... But anyways. The whole thing is just stupid. I think it is because of the bias issue and I think that the new ABC board has just proved how useless it is if it can't even recognise a little bit of critical comedy...
