    Section 1, Part A - Multiple Choice

But immunity is the 3rd line of defense, not the 2nd
  2. desmol

    Section 1, Part A - Multiple Choice

All it was asking was where is there more nitrogenous wastes - the collecting tubule contains the most because products of the kidney and osmoregulation all end up there
  3. desmol

    Section 1, Part A - Multiple Choice

agreed, the only other viable option was an observation, not a limitation of the experiment
  4. desmol

    Communication Option

You're right, but I added a bit more: I, K, J - -the lens at different stages/levels of accommodation solution - aqueous and vitreous humour

    General Thoughts: Biology

I kept thinking "there must be a mistake in the question or sth" fingers crossed
  6. desmol

    Communication Option

There's another thread for this, but anyway that was a Beadle and Tatum experiment The irradiation destroyed the gene that was responsible for the synthesis of that particular amino acid (which is a protein) that the mould thrived on The added amino acid in the other test tube acted as a control
  7. desmol

    Section 1, Part A - Multiple Choice

my teacher came in after 2 hrs, and finished it all by the time we were done... and she had a class too hehe
  8. desmol

    General Thoughts: Biology

That question sucked. First I got confused and wrote about meiosis, read the qs again and had to cross it all out I wrote about the importance of correct DNA replication, mutations and mutagens, and then how it contributes to variation in populations and evolution... then I put some stuff about...

    Section 1, Part B - Short Answer

Carriers can also refer to heterozygous dominant genotype (in this case, carrying the recessive gene but not expressing it, allowing it to be passed on to the next generation)
  10. desmol

    Section 1, Part A - Multiple Choice

Re: General Thoughts: Biology You're not crazy, DNA polymerase is the enzyme in DNA replication Catalase is the enzyme in liver (and potatoes) as for me... I wrote catalase and confused myself later on, crossed it out and wrote amylase
  11. desmol

    Section 1, Part A - Multiple Choice

It was B because all of the other answers involve a change that the plant can't possible make in one day (the question did specify 'a hot day'). It can't grow leaves or w/e and it can't decrease the number of stomata that are present
  12. desmol

    General Thoughts: Biology

I knew it was something beginning with 'p' and it couldn't be a prion because they're rod-shaped so hehe..
  13. desmol

    Section 1, Part A - Multiple Choice

C because it allows for more oxygen to be carried to cells --> more respiration --> more energy and all the other answers were incorrect anyway
  14. desmol

    General Thoughts: Biology

Macfarlane isn't even an actual dot point fml
  15. desmol

    Section 1, Part B - Short Answer

Was the Macfarlane Burnet question even examinable? In the syllabus, he's not mentioned in an actual dot point, only in a title.

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

I asked some people in my class and they weren't able to finish it either, so that made me feel a little better hehe... I'm just worried my essay was too basic/not analytic enough
  17. desmol

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Apparently the teacher of one of the Standard classes at my school guessed the time theme, but I didn't expect it all all Also, the supervisors at my school wasted half our reading time saying prayers and explaining the freaking paper URGH
  18. desmol

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 (AOS)

Section 1 was okay, I liked the two memoir excerpts but the book cover.... *shudder* and not to mention the poem.. Section 2 I spent waaaay too long on, trying to adapt my story to the stimulus without diminishing the central idea. Section 3 My response was a bit more basic than I'd prepared...

Does ranking have a significant effect on HSC marks? Will my mark go down

Sorry if this has been answered before, I'm not really sure where to post this. If my internal ranking isn't very high (ranging from 2nd to 6th depending on subject) but I do really well on my actual HSC exams, how likely is it that I can achieve Band 6s in my subjects? On the Board of Studies...

10 Units or 12 Units Better

But if you do well in ALL subjects, your wasting your time taking 12 units. If you're an all-rounder with good ranking in all subjects, dropping one that you don't need or don't enjoy will give you more time and less stress when it comes to exams and the HSC. Most people take 12 units to back...
