    Honours at UNSW

Re: LLB (Hons) at UNSW I would take issue with that -- changing to Honours is an important move. The awarding of Honours is a recognition of high achievement. Graduating "with distinction" is a rather illogical difference that our law school chose to adopt which has caused nothing but confusion...

    Intimate Injunctions

Heh yes there are lots of UQ law revue snippets online -- my favourite is the Westpac sketch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytxayp-7V20&mode=related&search=

    Help Needed Urgently!

I really dislike that book. But yeah, you should start by doing some reading, Beau. You cannot possibly go through those chapters and cases without forming some opinion about them. It's a very broad question, so my advice is to be careful and avoid simply writing everything you know about...

    Lost Chinese Learned Friend?

Heh He wasn't a "learned friend" -- only barristers are "learned friends". For solicitors you just say "friend".

Talking about your rights (without sounding like a law snob)

Re: talking about your rights without sounding like a law snob Anyhow, in response to the actual question (I realise you weren't asking for legal advice, just thought I should point that out), it's difficult. Let's face it -- no-one likes being told about the law. It's always going to be...

Talking about your rights (without sounding like a law snob)

Re: talking about your rights without sounding like a law snob Frigid is right with regard to who has the interest and when, but the nature of that interest is defined by the Residential Tenancies Act 1987. Specifically s 24 provides that it is a term of every residential tenancy agreement...

    Best Law Schools

Hi agentprovocater, UTS is a good uni, but I would suggest that you source your claims. People aren't likely to believe such assertions without good evidence.

    Court Observation

    Performance Indicators for Judges

(As you know) Spigesy made a similar speech in 2002 about the dangers of applying economic principles to the legal sphere - point being that not everything that counts can be counted. For those who haven't seen it, it's a great read - here is the link

    Mooting - Distinguishing cases

I'm not sure of the specific details of your problem question, but you should consider whether the authority should be confined to matters dealing with that statute. That is, the statute may alter the context of the court's findings on negligence, so that in situations where the act does not...

    Mooting - Distinguishing cases

Re: Distinguishing cases 1. Definitely distinguish it on its facts. 2. Check to see if it has been followed (How many times? Has it been applied in the court you are in? Has it been overruled?) 3. If it is not an Australian case, point out that it is not binding. 4. If it is really old, say so...

    Beazley's visa values plan

Yeah I know, it's silly Message 1 is "The Libs thought of X first, why are you so slow to do X?" Message 2 is "X is wrong! Don't do it!"

    Beazley's visa values plan

I am loath to agree with Miranda Devine, but this is really sad stuff from Beazley. One can't but appreciate the absurdity of the situation though, when Amanda Vanstone accuses Beazley of pandering to xenophobia. I mean just what has the world come to!

    Best Law Schools

Well, possibly, but it is not seen so in NSW.

    Best Law Schools

With respect, no. That is absolutely not the case. No law school is "barrister-minded", if there can be such a thing. You have to do separate training to become a barrister or to become a solicitor after you graduate. There is no focus on being one or the other at any law school.

    Single Degree vs Double Degree

Hi Adam, You'd best post that in the General Tertiary section, where they'll be able to help you more and it will be seen by more.
