    General transfer question

It is difficult to say, depends how your actual university marks are. After your first year of university, ATAR is usually discarded (with the exception of law and medicine). EDIT: Matrob, pretty sure you are correct on this. Mid-year transfers only consider your ATAR as the first semester of...

    Difference between courses

Hi LachS It is very important that you understand the distinction between a BCom-Accounting and BCom-Prof Accounting. BCom-Prof Accounting should be done if you want to be a chartered accountant (in other words, have a CA/CPA qualification). On the other hand, BCom-Accounting does not allow you...

CA Program - Ask questions, get answers! (new and improved)

Yes I am missing a few subjects. From just glancing, I can see that I am missing stuff like Business Law, Corporations Law, Revenue Law (these are unshaded) etc.

CA Program - Ask questions, get answers! (new and improved)

Thank you very much for the response. From what I have accumulated, Macquarie have split their accounting program into two components. You can major in accounting (the one I am doing) or professional accounting, the one where you get accredited. I have asked the institute about this, and I think...

CA Program - Ask questions, get answers! (new and improved)

I think the degree you are talking about is BCom-Prof Accting/B Applied Fin, am I right? Yes that degree is recognised but the one I am doing is an ordinary BCom - Accounting, Finance which is not recognised by the institute.

CA Program - Ask questions, get answers! (new and improved)

Hi guys I am currently studying a BCom (majoring in Accounting in Finance) at Macquarie University. I have recently realised that as I was scouring through the list of accredited courses on the CA website, the degree I am doing is not recognised. I have contacted CA and they told me to fill out...

UWS (Advanced Business Leadership) VS Macquarie VS USYD

From what I've heard, the difference between Advanced Bus. Leadership and the basic course is the third year subjects. Advanced Bus. Leadership is a tough course, you need to maintain a GPA of 5 otherwise you will be transferred into the basic course. In saying that, if you did have a choice...

Finished HSC 2011, started course but hated-have no idea what I want to study? HELP!

Re: Finished HSC 2011, started course but hated-have no idea what I want to study? HE Congratulations on your ATAR, that is a fantastic achievement. Since you enjoy maths, actuarial studies could be an option.

    Roland Garros (French Open)

Totally agree with this. Stosur is mentally fragile and inconsistent. Her performance in Australia was dismal.

    Tennis - G.O.A.T - Federer vs Laver

I think the best way to settle this G.O.A.T debate is to listen to what Laver said. He said that no one can be the greatest player ever. However, you can be the greatest player in your generation. There is no doubt that Laver was the best in the 1960s and Federer in the 2000s.

Music while studying? Distraction or Motivation...?!? What do you think....

It is ultimately up to you. You cannot follow what others do here. Do what you believe is right and stick to it.

    Macq or UWS Comm/Law?

Mid-year transfers would only see your ATAR taken into consideration (for first years). If you want your GPA to be considered you would have to do a full year of university study. Since Macquarie is closer for you, I would go with that uni and internally transfer from there.

Medical related courses which don't require UMAT?

Biomedical Engineering is the closest one I can think of.

    New VC Selected

I reckon it's a good choice. This should help in making the university more recognisable on the world stage.

    USYD commerce to UNSW commerce

It is difficult to tell because students that transfer from uni to uni tend to have different cutoffs compared to students going from Year 12 to uni. They can be higher or they can be lower. I suggest you ask the admissions centre at UNSW to see if they can shed any more light.

    USYD commerce to UNSW commerce

Hi Mjontrix Usually mid-year transfers are based on your ATAR only. If you want your GPA to be counted, you can do so after completing your first year at USYD.

Connections in getting an internship/vacation work

Hi guys Would having a connection with someone in an organisation you wish to work for be beneficial in any way? Is it something employers rely heavily upon and would it give yourself an advantage over other candidates? Any thoughts or comments would be deeply appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Expectations of MQ Semester 1 2012?

Wow that is something. Good luck with it mate!

    Labor Leadership Spill 2012

Re: Kevin Rudd Resigns as Foreign Minister Smart move I'd say by Rudd, Gillard was probably going to sack him from the moment he touched down in Australia.

    Which degree?

This is a very good point. Prestige does play a small factor in my mind but enjoying what your doing is most important. If your heart is not set on psych science you would run the risk of losing time and money.
