Could someone please clarify my ideas of UAI and scaling??

    1. It makes NO difference how one particular subject allone is scaled. People look at the raw scaling data and they see that its scaling down, but so what? The UAI is a rank, if everyone gets scaled down, its makes no difference. You need to compare these scaled marks to other courses. 2. I...

    Sam?!

when the site is back up, there is a link at the home page. it doesn't really predict, rather it tells you what UAI you would have obtained with particular HSC marks in a particular year.

    location of lab??

near the keith burrow's theatre. its actually underneath the physics theater.

Advice for MDP - Graphics based projects

is that where, you take heaps of frames and stick them together? well most video playing software has a capture button that will capture the screen to a file (PowerDVD can do this). Use this to capture the frames, then use a program that stick's frames together. there are many to do this...

Advice for MDP - Graphics based projects

well the main desktop publishing programs are, QuarkXPress Adobe InDesign (as a personal preference i prefer InDesign, but they are both industry standards) also some crappy ones, that would probably do the job are, adobe illustrator, ms word, ms publisher, but they are not industry...

    art = bad scaling?

go to uac's web site, and under the UAI section find table A3. this will tell you exactly how art scales compared to other subjects.

    Help - nudity question!

yes good idea. its better to check with them first, rather than find out later that they will not allow it.

    Economics scaling?

Its a lot simpler to think of it how BackCountrySnow said. If you were to graph raw marks vs. scaled marks, the graph would not be linear, it would go all over the place. In fact I don't even think the curve must be continuous(though not 100% sure).

    ugh. :D

i don't have every single question. but most of them. there is a document called HSC Physics Past Paper Solutions on my site, http://andrew.harvey4.googlepages.com/.

How did every one go in Phys quiz 1

lol.. yeah.. i probably shouldn't have asked. i wouldn't have actually cheated though. because that would be against the universities policies on plagiarism and malpractice. i got 8/10. so if we do the test again, are the questions the same? and do the take our best mark, or our latest mark...

People who continue to write after time's up.

I hate those people. I think its totally unfair. And it happens all the time. They just keep writting!! and what do the hsc supivisors do.. well IF and only IF they see they will just probably walk over to you and ask you directly to stop.. thats about it. they can put you down as cheating...

    Why is physics so hard?

Period can be measured in whatever units you want. You can use minutes if you want. you don't need to convert it. it just means that you will get an answer with different units.

How did every one go in Phys quiz 1

    i haven't done it yet..

does going to a Crap School SCALE you down SETTLE IT HERE

Spoon feeding is bad. While it may help them get their UAI of 100, it does not really teach them the skills they need to succeed in future studies. It's not until you get to uni that you realise what at joke the HSC is. (adapted from Pwaryuex)

    Economics scaling?

Yes. Not also depends, only (solely) depends.
  16. me121

    Are these 'Low scaling subjects'?

yes.. but the data is also on uac's web site in electronic format. Unfortunately they don't have an archive of all the years, so i'm missing some years.
  17. me121

Does bad school mean you uai's go slightly lower?

depends what you mean by ranked. there are different methods of ranking. two newpapers publish the list each year.. but i think you can get a copy in the HSC marks technical arena forum.

    Advance Mathematics at Uni

just because you start the 1st year doesn't mean that you will graduate. but even abstract math has applications.. right?

    Tutoring

wow.. you sound like me. lol i know what you mean. in yr 11 maths for me, there was a large intake of international students who were mostly 3-4 years older than me. at first it was very intimidating, as they all thought they were really smart. most of them thought it was easy. and most of...
