    What are my chances

That would only be six subjects where you need eight for your GPA to be calculated. Your GPA (approx of sticky info) Pass = 4 Fail = 0 Credit = 5 Distinction = 6 (3 x 4 + 0 + 5 + 6 )/6 = 3.83 According to the pdf. in the sticky this equals an entrance equivalent of 79...

    Wait...What? No Journalism Major?

I always had this romanticised idea of journalists and though that it was an in built you know passion for finding out the secrets of people and an uncanny ability to get people to open up. I thought that being a journalist wasn't something that you really learned, it was something you just were...

    Parking

I hate parking at ANU. I used to have great satisfaction when I came in to study on the weekends and could park in the car park opposite union court for free. I don't know why but it just made me happy. I believe (but I don't know) that you can buy a car spot or something with one of the...

Transferring to medicine-related courses from Medical Science over stated?

I cannot imagine it would as far as transferring goes, because at university a grade is a grade, regardless of where its from. Although I guess some courses will give you more knowledge that can help you later on. I am not sure.

Please Help! I don't know what to choose! I need your opinion!

I understand how you are hesitant about moving into a degree you don't really want to do and then maybe transfer. The bottom line is that if you fail just one unit it could screw you entrance rank enough to knock you out of the running. Also, its not as easy to get good grades in university...

Want to study in USA, english is not good, Help me!

This is a forum for Australian universities, you are probably best looking for one on American universities, or perhaps contacting an American university directly. They probably have courses for international students wanting to study there.

Regretting your course, regretting your choice of uni?

I regret listening to my parents. They told me to go to ANU, and that everything would be nice at university, and that all the people are happy and nice, etc. it sounded very nice. I am normally very realistic and I don't know how they managed to delude me that I actually wanted to stay a...

    Transfer Q's

For transfer they count everything you do to form your GPA. You GPA is used for entrance if you have done a year (or equivalent) full time study. It doesn't matter if its from an english unit, physics unit - whatever. A grade is a grade.

    Gender Imbalance?

I didn't really notice a gender imbalance. I guess it depends what subjects you do. I did Arts and even there I noticed a difference, more guys in Philosophy, more girls in Sociology etc. I wouldn't call the ANU Gender balance problematic.

    What is considered too early?

Most universities receive applications through UAC (for NSW/ACT), VTAC (Victoria) and QTAC (Queensland). I believe UWA is a Go8 and I know you can apply directly to them. I think University of Adelaide is one as well, but I can't remember the South Australia acronym, maybe SATAC. Basically...

    Tell me about UOW?

So I just recieved my information pack in the mail from UOW and its booklet is quite colourful, vibrant and happy. It was last year too, from memory, so they get points for that. I'd be transferring as a NRSL into second year Arts, with my focus on Sociology and Philosophy. I've applied for...

    NRSL cut-offs

I wish I knew it for Arts. I also wish I didn't have a sucky UAI. But if wishes were horses then i'd be riding...

    Transfer Q's

Seven units doesn't count. I don't know about the summer school - it might count - but it would probably be too late for 2010 first semester entry. They release main round offers early-mid January and you would need your results by then - maybe later for a later round but I don't think it...

    What are my chances

Its very simple. You do a full year of study and apply through UAC then they count your GPA. You don't do a full year of study and they don't count your GPA. If a fail is on your record then it counts a unit, and therefore contributes to your study. I believe you have to do 8 units for...

    UNSW from MQ

You have until the 30th September to apply. You apply through UAC (and they charge you like double the year 12 price - so annoying). Anyway if you have done a full time year of study (or equivalent) your marks will be converted into a GPA, then that will converted into a selection rank...

Internet is Australia sucks compared to Korea

I'm currently attending university in New Zealand (for a change) and I will never complain about Australian internet after this. Cost in through the roof, speed in ridiculously low, as are download limits. Not to mention mobile broadband, which I used mainly in Australia. I could pay $30...

WAM and UAI - worried sick

Only if you are using them to get in. You're not so don't worry about it. Just skip it all.
  18. A

So worried!! UAI or WAM counted??

You have to declare everything you have done with UAC but they don't take your GPA into consideration until you have done years worth of study. I would be under the impression they would only take your UAI into account. Don't take my word for it but I am pretty sure about it.

    Fuckin young love...

I think one of the characteristics of love is that it can't be practically defined and can only be recognised whilst under its influence, or after - depending on your level of personal insight and ability to reflect. Its become another word, but when evaluating the concept of love it really...

    about course title

I don't know about Commerce specifially, but generally it has the major in brakets like you had before. Even though then it might 'look similar' to another course there are generally differences. Its not something you should have to stress over now anyway, they'll probably explain it all as...
