    History Extension HSC Exam 2009

Personally, I would have loved to have been in your situation. I was forced to study it externally through distance ed. I have 2 days after Physics to prepare. It is quite annoying how it is a Friday Afternoon, and my last exam at that, so I will probably be feeling a bit meh when I get into the...

    band cut offs

I maintain that it was not hard. As I have said elsewhere people percieve it to be hard because the exam committee decided to take a new approach. This year's paper tested your understanding of the topics studied. The rollercoaster question, which many struggled with, is an example of a not so...

    band cut offs

Definately not. This paper is not even in the same league as 2003.

    Your maths 2U mark?

I had enough time during the exam to write them down on the paper I took with me.

    Your maths 2U mark?

Left 2 marks of binomial and 3 marks for the 2nd last question, guessed the answer to the last mark. Going from Terry lee's solutions, I got 75-76/84, which I am sorta disappointed with, considering it was a test perfect for me - no permutations and no regular circle geometry. How'd you find it...

Thoughts on raw mark needed for an E4

It comes into effect next year. On the Board of Studies, it says Biology has only 15 mutliple choice for this year's paper, and hence Physics and Chemistry will have the same. The 2010 syllabi say that 20 will be implemented for the core - options stay the same. Personally having 20 quesions...

    Your maths 2U mark?

I wrote all my answers on the paper I took out of the room. Shady, what marks did you lose?

    Your maths 2U mark?

    115-116/120.

Thoughts on raw mark needed for an E4

+2. This seems to be the case for the other maths papers I have seen. Maths is about problem solving, not memorising.

    the heardest hsc paper??

The exam was not hard. The questions were not hard. Wat made it out to be percieved hard was that people understood the math but not the logic. The rollercoaster question, and the pipeline question (a easier version of q6a 2000 ironically in the 3u paper) did not test your mathematical...

How many marks have you dropped?

5-8 marks depending on how lenient the markers are + silly mistakes.

2009 Mathematics 2U HSC Worked Solutions

I have no idea, Namu however has his estimations from last year's paper, and in my opinion, this year's was quite similar though maybe marginally harder. http://community.boredofstudies.org/12/mathematics/224035/raw-scaled-mark.html#post4643816

2009 Mathematics 2U HSC Worked Solutions

Well the odds that neither of them win in any given week = 8/9*15/16 =5/6. Hence the odds that they don't win for 3 continious weeks - i.e. don't win at all = (5/6)^3. Therfore the odds of winning at least once is 1 - (5/6)^3 = 91/216.

2009 Mathematics 2U HSC Worked Solutions

That's still a decent band 6. Hopefully someone smarter then us can confirm q8a.

2009 Mathematics 2U HSC Worked Solutions

Thanks dude. Q5cii2 seems to be wrong. The triangle is an equilaterial, and hence all sides are 2. In your working you have forgot the '2' in the -2absinc bit. The answer should be 2 + 2pi/3. It's good to know my answers are right. I can now say confidently that I got 114-115.
