Transfer into combined law at usyd or unsw

Your best bet would be doing the Bachelor of International and Global Studies, aiming for a Distinction average, and then doing the Juris Doctor postgraduate (if you really want to go to USYD). You could try for Macquarie instead but bear in mind, many graduate legal jobs consider WHERE you got...

    WAM to ATAR conversion ?

I don't know about WAM to ATAR but this table is a useful tool for converting GPA to ATAR :)

Roll Call for those trying to transfer into Usyd/UNSW law this Year - 2013

I'd say you were in at USYD! I'm currently at... ATAR: 99.4 GPA: 6.125 NRSL: 97.7 Based on what I've heard from friends who've transferred into USYD law, the NRSL cut-off for transfers last year was around the low 97's.

Transfer into combined law at usyd or unsw

USYD does it by GPA, rather than WAM. I've never heard of anyone transferring into USYD law with an ATAR under 98 so you'd realistically be looking at a GPA of closer to 6.25+ if you wanted to have a good shot of transferring in.

    degree for advertising career

Yes, advertising jobs are extremely well paid, however, it is not an easy area to get a job in. I have many friends who have graduated from university with majors in PR/Advertising/Marketing from reputable universities (USYD, UNSW, UTS), very high WAMs and a good array of extracurriculars who...

Is this plan pursuable at USYD?

Yep, it's totally possible and you can transfer at the end of first or second year (and possibly mid year if USYD offer mid year entry to Economics). If you transfer courses you just apply for an internal credit transfer and they'll give you credit for all your completed units. BUT I should...

Unit of Study Marks for Semester 2 [USYD]

A lot of first year Business School stuff is out too :) BUSS1020, INFS1000 and ACCT1006 all released

    degree for advertising career

THIS. OP - many universities offer Marketing as a second major in Arts degrees. e.g. at USYD you can do a BA with a first major in whatever Table A major you choose and a second major in marketing. Then you skip stats/accounting/economics :) And the ATAR is usually lower ;)

    State rank in Society

Late reply here! Last year I got 97 and didn't state rank in S&C. Looking at the distribution of marks I got with my HSC results, first in the state last year got 98. So make of that what you will. I'm guessing once scaling came into it it was a decimal points decision. Obviously it changes from...

    Most people missing exam?

In the room I was in for my ECON1002 final this semester there were about 40 seats and around 10 were empty. I always wonder why so many people skip exams - even if you're applying for special consideration there's no guarantee it will be upheld and if it isn't and you haven't sat the exam...

    degree for advertising career

If you're keen to skip the Maths, UTS offer a BA (Public Communication) in which you can major in advertising. Having said that advertising grad jobs are few and far between and having a Commerce degree would possibly give you an advantage because it shows you're an individual with academically...

    GG - Sydney uni scholarship

Current USYD scholarship recipient here - the quoted ATAR cutoffs on the website are waaaaaaay too low! For all faculties except the Business School (who give out a lot of scholarships), most scholarship recipients get ATARs over 99. Business School most get over 98. You also need a pretty damn...

    Merit and Entry Scholarship Email

The smaller faculties give out very few scholarships, some only give ~10. Science gives out ~20. Arts gives out ~20. The Business School gives out many more because they've got a lot of corporate backing (I think that's the reason) - I think this year they gave ~40. I have friends who are...

    Deans scholarship

You have to be outstanding to get the Dean's Scholarship. Like. OUTSTANDING. I know people who missed out on scholarships (not just Dean's scholarships, all scholarships) with USYD Business with ATAR's in the 99's. You will need a high 99's ATAR and a proven history of extra-curricular...

Question regards to dropping one of the dual degrees

This page may be of some help to you: http://sydney.edu.au/business/currentstudents/undergraduate/student_administration/student_administration_manual/transfer Don't rely on your request being allowed immediately though. I've got friends who've tried to drop from combined to single degrees and...

    WRIT Subjects

Has anyone taken any WRIT subjects? What are the assessments/lectures/tutorials like? I'm considering WRIT1001 for next semester, I hear it's quite an easy Distinction.

Results Check / Raw Marks / Exam Responses

So is there any way to get an actual re-mark of our HSC exam? Or are we only allowed to do the results check thing?

Are school certificate marks reflectant of your HSC marks?

Not at all! I got low Band 6's/high Band 5's for all of my SC subjects and my HSC marks are all estimated to be around mid-high Band 6's now. It means nothing, mainly because most people don't put any effort into SC compared with the HSC. Even at my school - which is a top 5 school - people...

How does your school award the dux?

My school does it based on ATAR, so it gets awarded the year after you sit your HSC. In the event of a tie they just give joint dux but I can't remember the last time that happened. Having said that, it's a bit meaningless at my school where there's usually about 20 people getting over 99...
