    SLC? What's that?

    Conics Question - Ellipse.

I thought that you couldn't have the square root of a negative number... is that just a (false) concept?

Should PD/H/PE be considered a science?

Hello all, Do you consider PD/H/PE to be a science? Do you think that it should be considered a science? I'm not sure. I think it is a lot like a science course. It will definitely help me with medicine/surgery or nursing - the first aid and sports medicine options will be particularly useful...

Is doing three sciences without mathematics unwise?

Well, I doubt I will do a Bachelor of Mathematics. I would like to do medicine/surgery, physio or health sciences, none of which have mathematics as assumed knowledge. (It is recommended for physio and some health sciences courses.)

Is doing three sciences without mathematics unwise?

That's not true. Employers won't look at your HSC after you've done a university course (generally) and I will probably do maths there. I just want a two year break from maths, or at least a break from maths in school... I might do some at home.

    projectile motion

Maybe I would do maths if I didn't have to do religion. Doing maths limits the amount of other, more appealing subjects I can do. I also don't want to do maths because my teachers don't make it very interesting generally. That's interesting that the VCE course kept the heavy maths and the...

    projectile motion

This maths is so easy! Is it true that HSC sciences are soft compared to other states? Obviously they are soft compared to IB sciences, but what about other states?

    projectile motion

Good to know! I'll probably learn maths at university, either by myself or in an introductory mathematics class within a medicine, nursing or health sciences course. :) It's funny though. I thought medicine required mathematics but I have not seen one course description (that I remember) say...

    projectile motion

I would like to, so maybe I will.

    for those doing 10 units...

I disagree. There is an illness misadventure system that allows students who are too sick to complete an exam or submit an assignment to get an estimated mark. Doing extra units because you are worried you will get sick is silly. I think the only reasons you should do extra units are if your...

    Option topics

You're joking right? My school uses Biology in Focus for the HSC. How would they cover options? Maybe they would do it without a textbook... that would actually be more interesting. The teachers would have to think for themselves!

Is doing three sciences without mathematics unwise?

Hello all, I am considering studying physics, chemistry and biology without mathematics. My subjects would be: Biology Chemistry English Advanced Hospitality Italian Physics Studies of Religion I I've already established that it is possible to succeed in physics without doing...

    projectile motion

Are these problems you would be more likely to encounter in HSC physics or HSC mathematics?

Is anyone going to miss english?

Year 10 English is about educating you to become a literate citizen. If students could experience English as their teachers know and love it, then a lot less students would despise English. I think that English in universities would be preferable to HSC English, from what I have heard of...

What is the most interesting HSC science course

I think that biology is under-rated. I have seen the conepts explored in 'Maintaining a Balance' and there is much more to learn than "how animals urinate and the reason for urinating". Why would that be boring, anyway? It's interesting that chowm said he preferred chemistry. Do you find that...

    Is chemisty freaking awesome?

There are still concepts in Biology - inheritance: pedigrees and punnet squares and of course, there is experimental design and reporting. There are also other concepts that unlike the ones I mentioned, are learnt by rote learning. Biology across all introductory courses does require a lot...
