Choosing subjects for year 12- Bio or Ext 1 English

I enjoyed year 12 bio content like 100x more than year 11, depends on the person. Learning about human and animal functions which is relatable to real life was really fun, compared to year 11 learning about plants and I forgot what else... Check the syllabus points and see if it's interesting...

    I miss you guys

Content in HSC is muchhhhh easier, because you can actually understand all of it LOL... in uni it feels like just semi-understanding it and memorising past years questions then praying... also people are less competitive overall imo since there's no ranking system.

I can only write 660 per 45 minutes

Maybe just focus less on how neat your writing is, because they can usually read messy writing. I think I wrote around 800ish words in 40-45 mins for english without stopping so it's different for everyone :)

What course in which uni do most Ruse graduates go to?

I went to a school around rank 50-60, a catholic school. Everyone helped each other a lot so it was a supportive environment with good teachers in some subjects :)

    Advice on "Memorising" Content

Find which learning method works best for you and go with that, for example not everyone is a visual learner or auditory learner etc. I just read the notes a few times and tried to think in my head what I learnt after reading that syllabus dot point. Also asking questions to group chats helps...

    GPA

Yeah agree with this, usually depends on the degree. If your WAM/GPA is low you have to make up for it in some other way i.e. experience/extracurriculars etc - if your WAM/GPA is low and you have no experience, the employer will be like, why would I hire this person? They can just hire someone...

    Cramming before Trials Advice

    1) For sure 2) Took me ages I did it in the holidays for bio (whole course in the summer holidays) but I bludged heaps while doing it 3) Yeah I did this for physics because in my perspective I was like, I'm just gonna be rewriting notes I find online anyway, how was I gonna reword stuff about...

Help with the working out : /

I kinda forgot how to integrate to find volume but I'm assuming you find the volume of the red+blue area rotated (cylinder volume with radius 2, height y = ln4) and minus the blue are rotated around the y axis (equation x = 0.5e^y).

    #welcome #general-chat

I think in yr 12 I tried to make a schedule for weeks before the HSC but failed xD my self control is really bad so I study with messenger/facebook open usually and my phone near me... usually ended in low sleep nights 24/7 but it turned out alright! I'm bad at self discipline so if that's...

STRATEGIES TO DO WELL IN EACH SUBJECT

Yeah just pick whichever one you like - I liked learning how humans/animals worked so I really liked biology, and physics had interesting concepts and maths in it.

STRATEGIES TO DO WELL IN EACH SUBJECT

For me, maths ext 1 + maths ext 2 + biology + physics = content first priority then past papers. Personally doing past papers before learning the content well will prepare you for those questions, but as soon as a question that requires in depth understanding of small details within topics...

    Importance of reading

Yeah as jazz said reading is more just a leisure thing to be honest... I guess it might improve your english mark a little bit, because personally my essays were just basic language so it didn't sound too nice - but still ended up with a band 6 so it's not like NECESSARY. Last book I read for...

How can I improve my maths and how do I know "you are correct".

Imo try to identify your weaknesses first, so for me it was doing the hard questions. Instead of being unable to do a hard question then checking the answers and being like "ok yep makes sense" then going to try another one and still failing - I tried to develop new thinking methods and...

Need help for subject selection (year 11)

Well people have different natural abilities... just need to try and develop a strategy for yourself to improve ^^ as I said in an above post I was struggling with the easiest 4u topics that others were finding easy, so yep just work hard :)
