    Moving About - Force:

Hey guys. Struggling with these two problems. Help would be very much appreciated. I think they involve vectors, which is probably the reason im struggling: 1) A 1000kg plane is travelling north at 40m/s. Its subjected to a force of 100N east for 30 seconds. What is its final velocity? 2) A...

    Students Online

When do Board of Studies put your subjects on the students online website? I am doing the HSC over two years, this being my last year, and its not showing the subjects I am enrolled in this year, as I write this.

    Sketching graphs

If you are given y=f(x), how would you go about sketching y=lnf(x), y=e^f(x) and y=arctanf(x) ?

What do YOU think should be in the HSC exams in the next few years?

Out of interest, Is there a link to the proposed syllabus for HSC mathematics anywhere?

thanks heaps! :D I never thought to use polar forms.

    another complex numbers question

If mod(z)=mod(w), prove that (z+w)/(z-w) is purely imaginary. Thanks!

    Complex Cube Root Of Unity

Just one more thing, but why does w^4=w ? I realise this may be obvious, but I cant see it? Also, thanks for the response RealiseNothing :)

    Complex Cube Root Of Unity

Hey all :D, can't figure out these two questions, was wondering if some kind person (spiral im looking at you :D) may help ;) : 1) If 1, w, w^2 are the three cube roots of unity, prove that: (a+b+c)(a+bw+cw^2)(a+bw^2+cw)=a^3+b^3+c^3-3abc And I know the following isnt a root of unity type...

HSC students' maths paper 'cruel and difficult' (SMH)

Was a very difficult paper, dissapointing when you've studied hard all year. The worst question was that probability one - was that supposed to be Binomial Probability? Still hoping for a high band e3 at least.

2011 Maths ext 1 Independent paper - how'd everyone go in it?

Just did the trial paper for extension 1. We had really late trials. Was out of 84, so I'm not sure what paper we did, but it wasn't CSSA, so it must have been the independent paper? It was easier than I thought, except for that dang related rates question.

    Motion with uniform acceleration

    thanks for helping :D

    Motion with uniform acceleration

Taken from Jones & Couchman: 6) A Body is let fall from a height of 150 m. What is its height and velocity after falling freely for 5 seconds? For the life of me i can't work it out... although its surely very simple.

    Coroneos For 4-Unit

Just a quick question - As I am probably doing extension 2 next year, was wondering if Coroneos for extension 2 covers the Graphs topic? I know it doesn't cover Harder 3-Unit, but from the contents description from the Coroneos website it doesn't list Graphs.
