    How to excel in senior year studies (yr 11/12)-99+ ATAR graduate

    Re: How to excel in senior year studies (yr 11/12) I'm sorry if you've been asked this before. What's the go with practical assessments for physics/chemistry? How do you do well in these? Are teachers looking for accuracy if you had to, for example, weigh products and then weigh reactants to...

    Prelim 2015 Chit Chat Thread

    Figured I'd post my marks from the half-yearlies I finished at the end of last term. I just got my results back. My maths marks are confusing. Instead of having a half yearly, we just had an exam in week 6 of the first term. Anyway, I tied first with 39/40. That was a 2U exam, so I don't know...

    HSC 2015 MX1 Marathon (archive)

    Re: HSC 2015 3U Marathon I don't see any problem with that. Looking at the graph of \sqrt{4x-x^2}, it does make sense that the velocity is at the maximum of 2 at x=2.

    HSC 2015 Maths Marathon (archive)

    Re: HSC 2015 2U Marathon I may not be right, I just gave it my best shot. I'm actually an 11th grader who just started, and I haven't even touch on series yet. All this is done from stuff I learnt a little while ago on the web. \text{P(win first turn)}=\frac{1}{6}\\\text{P(win second...

    Should I change one of my subjects to Bio or Chem

    Just a note on scaling: Scaling is designed to cancel out the hardness of a subject. If one subject is intrinsically harder than another, it is scalled up only enough to cancel out the hardness of the subject. That's why 4U maths scales so well, it's a hard subject. The mark a student would get...

    year 11 3D trigonometry question

    Here's my solution. Basically I calculated the angle the bigger angle marked \phi and subtracted the angle \psi from it to get angle \theta. http://i.imgur.com/uQNUs4e.jpg EDIT: Aaannnnddd.... I just realised I incorrectly rounded my last answer. Please ignore that mistake, the method is...

    tangent qn help

    So the question is asking for a equation of a tangent line. In order to find the equation, we need a point the line passes through and the gradient. We already have the point, we now just need the gradient. In order to find the slope of a tangent at a certain point in a function, we need to find...

    Cambridge Prelim MX1 Textbook Marathon/Q&A

    Re: Year 11 Mathematics 3 Unit Cambridge Question & Answer Thread Oh crap, I didn't simplify fully :( that's awkward. I'll begin where I left off. \frac{y^2-y}{y^2-1}\\\text{Now, we factorise}\\=\frac{y(y-1)}{(y+1)(y-1)}\\\text{Cancel the }(y-1)\\=\frac{y}{y+1}

    Thanks, I was super happy to see it. The mistake I made was just a silly mistake, in the question I was essentially asked to divide two numbers, but instead I divided the first number by other number from the question. Just a silly mistake.
