    Belonging Thesis

It's not likely that you're going to get an appropriate thesis on the BOS forum without us knowing the texts and your dominant arguments. A lot of these theses are okay, but many are too 'flowery' and lack focus, or they're just too long. Do you have an example of the thesis you were thinking of...

4th Year University Student - experienced English (all subjects) and History tutor

    Atar cut-off for B Arts??

If you don't think you'll get in to Arts at Sydney, check the ATAR cut off for other Universities in the area. If you do arts at another university for a semester and do well you can apply to transfer to arts at Sydney Uni. You could do the same by doing four subjects through Open Universities.

is it bad if i don't go to any open/info days for uni?

I've never been to any open days at my University, and I get by okay. However, it does help you to learn your way around and meet a few people in your degree, and this can definitely help you get your bearings in first year.

If I have done no HSC sciences, will I struggle more with B.med science or B.pharmacy

Re: If I have done no HSC sciences, will I struggle more with B.med science or B.phar Think about where you want to be at the end of your degree, and which degree will get you there. If you have trouble with the science, you can always find a tutor. Or a study group - some Universities have...

Late Round Offers & Alternative Pathways

Re: Alternative pathways to your desired university degree Don't forget that you can also do four subjects through Open Universities Australia (distance ed), which will get you right into a degree and take a semester off the course. I'm not sure it works for all subjects, but it definitely...

    How to Avoid Storytelling

"The metaphor, ‘He walked back inside/ and slammed the door/ on my sporting childhood/ that disappeared into the bushes/ with my soccer ball’ in Billy’s flashback demonstrates the events that he went through during his childhood." 1) The quote doesn't need to be that long 2) You need to...

Looking for a tutor for Adv English, Gen maths and HSC Biology!!!

I tutor English online/via email only (unless you are in the Newcastle region), but the online tutoring has proved highly effective for my students. I am a tutor of 6 years, and almost finished my teaching degree. I have been a popular tutor at the same tutoring centre in Newcastle for the last...

Online tutor: HSC English (all subjects) and History (all subjects). Also editing.

Hi, I am an experienced tutor (6 years) who has almost completed a teaching degree. My most recent experience includes being hired by a local senior high school as a history tutor (the same school asked me to mentor Extension 2 English students for two consecutive years), working for three and...

Looking for an English Advanced Tutor (Eastern Suburbs)

Hi, I am an experienced tutor who focuses primarily on HSC tutoring. I run an online tutoring (and editing and feedback) service that has proven quite effective with students studying belonging. I generally charge $60/hr. If you would like to know more about the service, please email me at...

Are there any online tutoring services available?

Hi, I provide online tutoring for English (all subjects/levels), History (all subjects/levels) and other essay based subjects. I'm afraid I don't currently teach science subjects, but if you're in the middle of nowhere, I thought you may find it hard to get help in all subject areas. I hope...

CAN someone help me out hereee~~NEEDING ENG tutor!

Where do you live? It's hard to recommend a service if we don't know that. I do online tutoring (and face to face, but I'm located in Newcastle). My online service is quite effective for most people. It involves assignment help, essay editing and extensive feedback, help with related and...

    Essay writing

You definitely need in-depth feedback on your essays to help you to improve. That's kind of my job - I run a feedback and editing service, but I don't really know that I'm meant to tell you that on this forum? Sorry if that's the case, I wasn't intentionally coming here to tell you I edit and...

    Move schools or not??

If you think you have good teachers and can do well at your school, I don't know that there's much point moving. If you're not feeling ready for next year, could you try getting tutoring? I'm a tutor, as it says in my signature, but I'm not saying this to advertise for myself. I just know that...

    Listening Task Technique?

It's okay, It was probably the pressure of exam/test conditions. You're not alone - A LOT of people end up doing that under stress in tests. How much was it worth? Listening tasks are usually given a very low weighting (5%-10% is the common range in my experience). Just don't let it bother you -...

Are teachers allowed to force students to drop out of acceleration?

I think teachers can pressure students, but I don't think they're supposed to force them out. Generally they will only put that pressure on a student if they really think that they're not cut out for the subject (of it they think the student won't work hard enough). But most people can get...

    Bad Teachers?

If students are likely to fail (as in your description) surely they are the ones who need the most help. Considering the number of students teachers have to help (almost all our schools are understaffed, in my opinion) you can understand their giving the most attention to the ones who most...

    History Extension Lectures

I think those lectures would be best towards the end of the HSC, when students are revising for the exams rather than just beginning to study the topics. Poor timing, I think.

Advice on Subject Dropping/Picking Up Please? (Extension 2 Maths vs. Visual Arts)

If you're very good at Maths, and you like it, then I'd say Maths extension 2. But it also depends on what you want to do when you leave school? Do you want to go to uni? If so, what course do you want to study? What ATAR do you need? It's hard to give advice without knowing these things. Also...
