    Engineering Grad Salaries

55k isn't a bad starting salary! I personally would be happy getting 50k+ but careerwise I don't want to get >30k - 40k. I'm looking at what I major in based on what it allows me to do careerwise (i.e. I want to use what I can do best and what I am interested in my profession) and what salary I...

    Linear algerbra

Doing linear algebra next semester don't know what it will really be like. I have the text book for it and its all on stuff like vectors and matrices! I haven't really done matrices before so I'll be a little out of my comfort zone compared to calculus 2, but should be fun! Maths is fun!

    Engineering Grad Salaries

I don't really know about any salary stories, all I do know is that chemical engineers and electrical engineers tend to make the highest salaries.

    Should I drop Law?

Well one thing you have acheived the UAI, ENTER, etc to actually get into such a competitive degree so kudos to you. So first things first you have achieved to be able to get a placement to do something about 1% of the Australian students can do. At uni in first year everyone I know is...

    Prospective jobs in science/engineering?

You are studying engineering to try beer? What area of engineering are you wanting to major in chemical? But you could have always opened up your own brewery I hope its not a pre-requisite for engineers to drink beer! I do drink but I'm more of a spirits person.

    Finished your exams yet???

1 thing I must say: "Uni exams 'SUCK'!" I have done 3 of my exams (Physics Advanced, Calculus 2 and Engineering Systems Design) Physics Advanced: My first university exam EVER was the hardest most degrading exam I have done! Let me say when universities say the subject is an advanced...

Hello, I'm either considering taking Economics-No Quantitative Methods breadth stream or Finance 1. Now I'm considering majoring in either engineering, maths or physics so I would like to do a range of commerce subjects that are important in engineering. Now please be as biased as you want!!!

    Prospective jobs in science/engineering?

I persnonally don't know whether the master of engineering or master of science is for me! As you can see above I'm considering majoring in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering (maybe chemical but I'll have to do additional chemistry subject - breadth requirements stopped me from being...

    Prospective jobs in science/engineering?

Thats alright you reminded me of myself last year! I love my science aswell, but I also wanted to do something that I could end up doing as a professional. As you stated there are better ways to get money. In my science degree about 60+% want to go into medicine and in melbourne's...

    Maths programming

I'm probably going to major in a maths, physics or engineering area and all require you to do some form of computer programming! Now I never have done computer programming until this year and it is a challenge! At school I loved my calculus and physics and in calculus classes this year I have...

    Prospective jobs in science/engineering?

No his discipline isn't 'merely on job prospects' as you state it, but, job prospects do make a huge influence of what you study because why would you spend years getting into something if you can't get a profession in that area? Your a hoot!

    Prospective jobs in science/engineering?

Yes the job prospects for you would increase if you had a double degree (just because you are knowledgable in two major areas)! From what i am hearing, getting an engineering related job is easier than getting an science related job. At the moment the best job sectors are health (for people...

    Double degree vs UMelb model

One problem I have found is that you are not guarenteed an Masters of Engineering placement upon completion of your Bachelor of Science degree. Well you can get a full fee paying place but other than that its not 100%! I don't know whether to keep going with science or transfer to the bachelor...

Uni Courses Relating to Chemistry? Help!

Any university (well most) will offer these as a course (i.e. BSc majoring in chemistry, BEng Majoring Chemical Engineering, etc)!

    Most Overrated Games

The thing about about microsoft is that to reep in all the benefits (i.e. 95% of the game's worth), you need to pay for xbox live! So you buy the xbox 360 ($450+), a game ($120+) oh and to reep in the benefits xbox live (whats that $80pmonth) oh and of course the phone company's bill (literally...

    Swine Virus

Apparently exposing yourself to the flu will give you some immunity to future mutations, having said that I can get the normal cold and catch it back again! At the moment apparently the virus is quite weak against what we have been using against it. What is scaring people is the fact that it...
