Elitist Selective school mentality makes me rage!

I TOTALLY AGREE! :) I get 5 bonus points for law and arts at ANU. (I still want to get 96+ to know that I got in on my own merit, however) Most prestigious law school in the country. Fucken delicious. Got into Wollongong for selective entry as well. Being a rural student isn't all that bad.

Elitist Selective school mentality makes me rage!

A girl at my comprehensive school walked into an assessment task and exclaimed in a really nasally Australian voice: "Who the fuck's Augustus?!" Enough said.

I refer you all to the King's High School fees outline... http://www.kings.edu.au/documents/fees-accounts/Boarding-and-Tuition-Fees-2012.pdf Fuck paying 14,000 dollars for my kid to stick crayons up his nose and wet his pants in kindergarden... As for the HSC, these schools are under pressure...

Elitist Selective school mentality makes me rage!

@Astro I get free tutoring 'cause my school is a National Partnerships one. @Agapepsis. I'll repeat again. Obviously when I was talking about "ridiculous amounts of money" I was talking about private schools. If you're lucky enough to have access to a selective school then that's fantastic...

Elitist Selective school mentality makes me rage!

Honestly they are fantastic. I meet with my Legal teacher every Saturday morning from 7am until 9am. He doesn't get paid extra for it. He's got a wife and three kids at home that I'm sure he would rather spend time. My Ancient teacher sits in the staffroom with me and runs through sources for my...

Elitist Selective school mentality makes me rage!

That's a really good question. I came to the conclusion that they think it's cheaper for the government to fund private schools in comparison to building and funding new government ones. They really should be one system - with absolutely no religious-based schooling.

Elitist Selective school mentality makes me rage!

This is totally correct. -My school is around 800 people so Year 12 isn't tiered - there are so many retards in my Modern class it's a joke. In English if you do Advanced you're going to be fine anyway and often my teachers have found ways of dealing with this kind of stuff. Most of them drop...

Elitist Selective school mentality makes me rage!

I think I'm a student for having to deal with bogans and having to motivate myself. I completely understand what you're saying - it's a better overall environment though.

Elitist Selective school mentality makes me rage!

That obviously wasn't a reference to government schools, I was speaking generally.

Elitist Selective school mentality makes me rage!

It's the same kinda sentiment that the King's High English teacher in this article shows when she says that "my brightest students found it quite challenging... An average student - and this is the whole state here - they would not be able to read that much text in reading time."...

Elitist Selective school mentality makes me rage!

The most pretentious/douchebag part is where he/she thinks she's fantastic for knowing the basics of Marxism and what a regressive tax is. Everyone who did preliminary Modern History - not even economics - knows what Marxism is. I also dislike how this person wants others to fail. I go to a...

If you only use one you get marks taken off your ATAR for being so lazy... ... Oh, I mean, no.

    Section 2 - Creative Writing

It sounds like a great idea, and nice and complex. That's a really good thing. The problem may be that a marker might not see the "communication and expressing oneself" side of that image. It's not a side that's obvious. That could make your story completely irrelevant to the stimulus. Sounds...

    Section 2 - Creative Writing

I chose Stimulus 2 (pedo looking old guy with young boy on jetty). I made him the kid's grandfather, and half of the story was in past tense describing the young boy's relationship with his grandfather and about how he belonged to his grandfather and the place that they would go to. The second...

Section 3 - As You Like It

That distinction is exactly why I was worried. I have a feeling though that "In what ways" can be refuted though, because you are still talking about how the text compares to this statement. Overall I'm very happy with my essay, I'm just nervous about whether I hit the question properly...

Section 3 - As You Like It

I sound really calm in the last post but I'm actually freaking out.

Section 3 - As You Like It

Did anyone else have trouble with Section 3 of the Belonging paper with As You Like It? I had to refute the question because Belonging is instantaneous and circumstantial in AYLI. Characters instantly belong, despite not having developed a relationship with an individual/place over a long period...
