Started the below mediocre novel and about 40 pages in (whee, 370 more to go -_-)

How does the Jones & Couchman 2U textbook fare? That's the main textbook for our 2 unit class, but I've also got a Cambridge text at home...

I've got to start reading my crappy English novel. Totally unmotivated, and this hot weather just gives me an excuse to relax.

To be honest, the transition for me from Year 10 to Year 11 wasn't that major. It just seemed like another school year was beginning and that was it.

Honestly, I've done minimal study (practically non-existent) and I'm feeling very guilty. I know I should make use of this time to catch up on missed out work and learn concepts etc (Chem is killing me) but I don't have the motivation.

Definitely possible. One guy from my school (in cohort above) did Standard English and got a bit over 96. (NB: Our school was ranked in the 500's last year)

Done a few dot points for biology but sadly none is remaining in my long term memory. Next year I will begin reading my two english presribed texts...hopefully...

Wow, the 2010 cohort of my school really excelled compared to prev. years. From the late 500's to mid 300's, jumping >200 places. It's a shame my year will most probably take us a few steps back again...

Teachers of mine have strongly recommended for us to make a summary for certain subjects e.g. the content laden Biology, and to memorise and understand the major concepts. Maths? Have to finish plane geometry in the holidays. (Was this a preliminary topic...?) English: Read the texts on History...

Only done 2 Unit Maths so far. Got =2nd with another person. Haven't done any other assessments / tests so far. I despise my English teachers for scheduling the English exam on the second last day of school.

Seriously, give up on him. If he doesn't want to learn, what's the point of you putting yourself in turmoil? You tried, but he didn't. If he wanted to learn, helping him wouldn't be an issue at all, but the truth is, he is not committed himself. You are a friend, you've done enough. Really.

I am empathetic towards you because I'm in the same position. My school is also late 500's, and that's not going to change any time soon. Oh well, I'm going to count on myself for a good ATAR :D
