Which textbooks should I get for Year 12?

wow 4 related texts for belonging? our school suggests 2, or 3 at most. to OP: i don't do any of your subs other than eng and maths, but for maths i'd either get Cambridge or Fitzpatrick, but if you want something simple to cover the basics, then maybe maths in focus? i don't know of any...

    Head start?

No, for year 11, schools are allowed to choose what texts you study so ask your teachers or maybe students from the year above you to find out what you'll be doing. If I remember correctly though, all schools have to do an AOS (area of study) in year 11 and for that you'll need one related text...

    Head start?

Excel books teach you the basics and imo, the only really good thing about them is that they have worked solutions. But otherwise, they're not good enough to get you a good mark and if you're looking for textbooks, try Fitzpatrick or Cambridge For chem - either Conquering Chemistry or Jacaranda...

    Post your Assessments

Re: Term 4 HSC Assessments My assessment block is in week 8, and I have 5 exams that are each about 10-15%. None of the extension subjects besides maths have assessments this time round, so they've decided to squeeze everything into one week :(

How far ahead is everyone exactly?

NaNo sounds like so much fun! But I don't think I can churn out 50 000 words in a month, especially with the work in all my other subjects :( We haven't even started EX2 properly yet, our teachers were really busy with year 12, so we're starting on Monday.

    After The Bomb 2012

we're doing Hiroshima, Waiting for Godot and The Spy Who Came In From The Cold as well. I'm a bit worried about the creative but not too concerned at the moment. having a bit of trouble looking for related texts though.

    What elective is everyone studying?

I got lucky, and i'm doing After the Bomb as well which sounds really good so far. The other elective my school offers is textual dynamics which doesn't sound as interesting.

How far ahead is everyone exactly?

i'm another person who hasn't started :/ i'm not too worried though, since i don't think anyone else at my school has really started either other than think of plot/ideas

Your first day of Year 12

exactly the same as last term. but we don't officially start year 12 until Thursday at our school, so everyone just kinda bludged and chilled. but we got our new timetables, and 8 free periods :D

Sydney Girls vs North Sydney Girls

yeah i think technically you guys are, but no one ever does so everyone just considers the lowers the common area. and the back of the MPH, i suppose. haha really? you guys topped English last year? because I know SGHS came second :P

Sydney Girls vs North Sydney Girls

lol i'm not too sure. but compared with SBHS our tests are so easy :/

Sydney Girls vs North Sydney Girls

hey there! i go to sydney girls so i guess any advice might be kinda biased haha. i'd say that the quality of our teachers are pretty good, but like all schools we have some really good teachers and some not so good, so it's not like we're extremely above the rest of the state. ext I english...

    Society or Culture or Economics?

You sound like you really want to do eco. I don't know if your school does this, but my school gave us a trial period of approx 3 weeks where we could drop/pick up subjects if we found out they were not what we thought they would be like or we didn't like it as long as the lines didn't clash...

Class of 2012: Roll Call Ext 2 Eng

Oh that sounds awesome! I'd be really interested in reading it if you end up doing your major work on that. Do they really have a limit on the number of texts to use as close reference? I haven't heard that before, hmm.

Class of 2012: Roll Call Ext 2 Eng

That's really cool, i kinda want a smaller class. We have 5 ext 1 classes and i'm not too sure how many ext 2 people we have, but i think it's around 20 at least. And yeah, i'm planning to, i hope they do.

What exercise book would be recommended?

I also really like using loose leaf and storing them all in a folder with dividers for each subject. It makes storing and organising sheets so much easier and you can just buy more when you run out as well as remove a whole stack when you finish a certain topic to save space. That said, A4...
