I would recommend doing a bachelor of adv Science (Mathematics) it allows for a lot more flexibility. So you can go through your normal science degree and can swap out of honors if you dont think its for you. If it is for you, then you proceed with honors, phd and you become a mathematician.

congrats. you also get 1-2 weeks over christmas and new year to do whatever too

by the same timeline of 2016S1 stream declaration update, it should happen around 7 days before the official release. I hope its earlier since year end and people would be inclined to get everything marked and enjoy the summer.

I see, thanks for the info guys. Interesting, I guess a split degree gives you the flexibility of not going with law if you don't wish, but I assume it affects your degree quite badly (in terms of length) should you decide to proceed with law?

I was just talking to a good friend of mine who goes to macq, I thought they ran on the same time line at uts, so told him you must be enjoying your holidays and he replied back saying the exam period actually just started, surprised me there, i wonder why they started a bit later btw...

100% agree here i think i posted here a few months back in this thread trying to make it clear. Over 4 years, i think 2 subjects had scaling (small amount of marks too) and it's a common misconception that fresh hsc kids bring into uni.

Hi there, I applied to the shanghai stream, and it said on the information page (for all locations) that the outcome will come via email on the 30th of august, which is today. I haven't received any emails or anything, has anyone else who applied heard back??

If you're certain, I'm sure it will update shortly (latest by end of friday). It usually takes 2-4 days depending on how many people did the retest, the lower the people the quicker the lecturer can mark it and then update the mark.

To be really honest, theres not much scaling that goes on at unsw, at least nothing like school style (which is a common misconception hsc students bring into uni). I'd say about 95% of all the subjects I've done have been the total of what I got.

you'll be happy to find out that only 1% or less of the cohort usually get HD in the lower stream of any maths course haha

I had a couple that were released already so in my case I could calculate pretty much everything (including relative differences lol)
